Is it just me, or has rock music gone emo/sissy/pansy in the past two years?
So, I basically listen to two rock stations when I am driving, because I don't really like making cd's. 106.5 and 93.3. Recently, it seems that all the new rock music is, well, "gay." Not rock even slightly. Wimpy. Emo. Sissy. In a word: flaccid.
John Mayer. Fall Out Boy. Panic at the Disco. My Chemical Romance. The list goes on. All that crap, that is in no way "rock(after all, for it to be "rock," it has to actually rock)." Is it just me, or did rock music just recently get a castration and a swift kick in the jewels(same thing is happening to country, too )?
Try listening to The Decemberists.
Rock has gone down significantly though. Sad thing is most people in our country (America) who like to that stuff don't listen the old good stuff.
And if it bothers you that much go download some music and get an MP3 player.
I gave up on radio years ago... I find better and "realer" music in movie and game soundtracks... like some Nonpoint that I liked while playing Smackdown vs Raw... now that is real rock music.
IMHO Country music is worse than gospel... so no comment.
I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

I know, I'm starting to listen to more classic rock, because its getting to be that the only quality music I haven't heard is there...will check out the Decembrists...

Just warning you that some of their songs could be considered emo. But for me who hates most mainstream rock these days it's pretty good stuff.
I just listened to a Decembrist song:
Let me show you something. This is classic "rock":
What new "rock" should be:

This is what rock "should" be, as I see it. Unfortunately, it is, in a word, "gay."
P.S. - Yeah, Soundgarden/Audioslave, Shinedown, and Foo Fighters rock. I could put at least a dozen FF songs on here, at least that for Red Hot Chili Peppers, and several more for Soundgarden...
its not just you.
Lately, more electronic stuff is added to songs and everything seems to be repetitive and already...done by someone else.
I'm still loyal to "Queens", although Mercury would very well fit opera singer
I agree 100% with you Jakko. I also might have creamed my pants a little bit when I heard Black Hole Sun...
Hell yes! And they are good live. Unlike some shitty rock bands.

There are a few good bands still around though.
My favourite being Alter Bridge.
