Answering to the thread, hell yes! Everyone switch back to the classics, Doors, Zepplin, and Nirvana, and show these pussy bands that dead guys are making more money than them!
and in this matter, money can't talk
...ah yes the topic, well of course it has, the mtv crap has been like that for a while
If you're source of music is mtv and the radio, and you're looking for some "rock," might as well just listen to a real rock.
Yeah, mtv has degenerated most of today's music and most o everyone's ears. But there's still good music out there, just stay away from the mainstream.
Yeah, music in the past is definitely better than music today.
Check out Joy Division.
(as a before note, I notice a lot of Nonpoint fans. Are they actually good again? There first CD was great, and their second terrible)
Does it even matter that mainstream rock has completely died in terms of good music? If you stop to think about it, not really.
In this day and age we have access to every song that was ever popular at our leisure. The amount of awesome old bands (Although admittedly I think its slim before the 1960's is huge). Bands like Deep Purple http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_2rUZWGdfI are still as quality hard rock as back in the day.
Not even mentioning old bands however, we all can get tons of music by promising bands (or of course really successful ones) in Europe which aren't so pigeonholed in to a style as in the U.S. Bands like Blind Guardian http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RVQ1NcTwQ4 or Ayreon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtAhlPcdh9c feature ridiculous talent.
Its the information era, Hollywood's strangle hold on music is failing. Now its just up to whoever wants it looking for it.
Wow. I hope you aren't generalizing ALL rock bands based on a few mainstream artists from like five subgenres tops.
Many of the Rock band just drawn to the pop genre (It's money talk, either you like it or not pop is generating more money than rock these days)
Everybody will call it rock as long as you use the sound effects when playing the guitar
You wanna rock? Listen to Dream Theater!
I feel like I am going back to the 90's...I miss those times :smt089
