I agree, the rock bands these days don't really stand up from others, sure there can so some very rare good songs they got but nothing impressive enough to remember them, I like the old days when it was just simple rock 'n roll.

oh and I can't believe nobody of you mentioned AC/DC, Guns 'n Roses, Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones, ZZ top, Twisted sisters, Metallica.

    @Jakko:

You should try them and burn few cd's, even if you don't like doing so, they beat the crap out of the bands of these days (or well, most, there still are very good bands alive but most of what they play on the popular radios).

    AC/DC - Highway to hell

Pure rock 'n roll, best as it can get (my favourite band for the moment) you should try some albums, they got some good blues songs too if you want I can recommend you songs so you don't have to get )

Guns 'n Roses - One in a million

(ok, maybe not such a 'rock' song but I thought that you (like me) as a "small town white boy" will like the lyrics, they are quite funny [the vid's quite crappy version with bad quality, haven't watched it completely but anyway..] :P)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOv5a...elated&search=
    (more rockish vid)

Another great band, they got some good rock music.

(or then you might know all those I mentioned, oh well, they rock anyway \m/)

@Wickerman: those 3 you mentioned are old bands, not new ones that are played on the radio. :P

These new "rock" bands remind me of VK. And they think the Japanese are copying THEM? Visual Kei has been around for years, and a month ago I turned on MuchMusic to see some group that looked and sounded just like your average VK band except they sing in English and have a better budget for videos. It's scary.

...and to be honest, that's probably why you guys think it's terrible. =P I like some VK bands (okay, the unusual ones - Glay, Malice Mizer [Gackt! <3], and Kana], but they definitely don't sound like American rock.

They have, but not all the songs that it has should be there.. <.<

@DE: I think it's terrible because it doesn't rock, compare them to AC/DC, there's a big difference between what they play, it just simply isn't my genre of music (j-rock/pop).

Man, Glay look like complete raving homos. They're out of control. The latest album cover has them all sticking their tongues down each others' throats. Their latest single is called "Love is Beautiful". And they're far from Unusual (insofar as you might mean Unpopular) - you can't get away from the queens.

Glay isn't actually considered VK that much anymore - believe it or not (which is what I meant by unusual. Do *they* dress up as women for all their music videos and have names that are reminiscient of horror movies and the like?). Anyway, one of their band members wrote Hitoiro for Nana 2, and that was a great song (plus Mika Nakashima sang it really well). Same with Laruku - they're not bad either~ Hyde may have some kind of strange fashion sense, but their music is infinitely better, in my opinion, than the average VK band where everyone looks like a woman in bondage clothes and sounds the same, while having song names that remind me of horror movies and the like.

...and you guys know I like an awful lot of things. Huge variety in my music folder.

AC/DC's best is Born to be WILD ... I find High way to Hell okai =/ of course Brian Johnson's Black in Black, She Shook me all Night Long, Thunderstruk (- spelling?? ) are all good too =D

AC/DC used to be my fav, but now I am totally digging The Beatles. To me, Beatles takes the "Greatest" Rock n' Roll Band EVER.

If your looking for a good new Rock Band thats not emo I would check out Stone Sour. I really only checked them out due to Johnny Dare's recommendation (Kansas City Rock DJ), but their new album is really good.

Also you cant go wrong with Audioslave, the NIN concert DVD is awesome as well.
