    Default Who here likes ska?

When I was younger I hated ska, I thought that the incorporation of horns with upstroked guitar was annoying. Now I love it.

Some of my favorite ska bands are Streetlight Manifesto, Big D And The Kids Table, The Aquabats, and Call Me Lightning.

Discuss your views on ska and/or some of your favorites.

Love ska. LOOOOOOVE ska. It's so fun to listen to, and even more fun to play.

The bands you listed are pretty amazing. Don't forget others though, suchassssss... Less than Jake, Reel Big Fish... etc.

I saw the Aquabats live, with WWB and the Aggrolites. Those guys seriously put on the best fucking show I have ever seen. I was GOING to see Big D with the Pietasters, in the LAS SKA SHOW EVER AT CBGB'S, but the motherfuckers wouldn't let me in cuz I'm 15. Fucking 16+ rule.

Bah, you can barely count LTJ anymore. They've gone more mainstream punk than ska. Their old stuff was amazing, though. I never liked that song "she's gonna break soon".

Aquabats put on a great show, with their costumes and whatnot. I have seen Big D and Pietasters on seperate occasions.

I saw Streetlight Manifesto last year. Later that night they got robbed, lost all of their personal possessions and instruments. They probably wont come back to Tampa for a while now. :[

Mad Caddies is pretty good, too.

    Word, word.

Can't forget about the ooooooooold stuff, neither. Sublime is and always will be one of the greatest bands in the world... Operation Ivy, plus pretty much anyone that was ever signed to Two Tone... is amazing.

It totally makes my day every time I hear those horns.

Goldfinger isn't ska. They're pretty amazing... but still, not ska.

Sublime isn't ska either. A lot of people call them ska because of several of their songs. Most of their music is more laid back, not ska. Their sound is more of a west-coast reggae.

Don't get me wrong, I love Sublime.

Ollllld No Doubt is alright ska.

I have no idea what ska is. After doing a cursory check, I think I have a vague idea. Is it like white reggae, wierd as that sounds(that song, "Informer," keeps going around in my head while thinking about this, hearing a white boy reggae rap, "Informer, I lick your boom-boom down...")? If so, pardon my language, but, what the heck?

Less than Jake isn't too bad, nor is Catch-22.
