Thread: Burning or Buying?

This is kind of neat...more people buy than I expected. But yeah, I don't buy a CD if I only like one or two songs off of it. They cost too much for that kind of purchase, even though yes, I know that they're cheap in North America compared to a lot of other places...it still adds up.

That is ridiculous. I think I'd throw a fit if my CDs didn't play on my computer. Also, why are you morally against paying for what you download? I'm not arguing, just curious where you're coming from on this one.

Internet's supposed to be free...

Well, I pretty much agree with that. Of course, you pay for your Internet provider, but after that...I like things off the Internet to be free.

I was going at it from a different angle, since this isn't a fan-made thing or necessarily being hosted with the artists' consent, unlike home-made movies, pictures, etc. I was actually wondering whether or not buying individual songs was included in what Aradiel is talking about, not the Internet in general, and in that case how they felt about them. Or anyone really. I've never paid for a single song download, but I think it's a nice option. I don't like paying for things over the Internet, though, so I don't think I'll be doing that...

I pretty much only download my music - on the other hand, the only thing I've seen in a store recently that I liked was an Utada Hikaru CD in English (at least, it said "Utada", so I assumed it was her). If I like something I can find here, I'll buy it - but I'm not going to pay thirty-five dollars for a CD in a specialty store while on vacation.

i dont buy music. unless i know the album is awesome, i didnt get all my music by getting albums, and half the music i have you cant find in stores. all incoherency aside it makes no sense to buy music. like jenova said, the artist gets paid shit, the record labels are scam artists, and usually only two songs are good. so no. and ESPECIALLY with cds costing like 20 bucks i say fuck that and head to limewire.

I used to buy a lot when I was younger, but then I liked popmusic so I had no problems finding the music I liked... I heard at the radio just to try to hear my fave song which never was played (for years I liked In The End of Linkin Park, but almost never heard it on the radio T_T)... and then my family got internett, and I got access to music I liked<3, but then it got difficult finding the albums of the artists I liked... Tried in the "large" city I live near, but still... So internett is my only way out either way!

I think I stopped buying cd's when everything became crappy...
waste 20$ for a cd that sucks except for a few songs...it was pointless.

I usually buy all my music, either it's from iTunes or ripped CDs I've bought. I often import CDs from Asia for my Asian music needs. I'd pirate music if and only if I get: Accurate track listings, lossless quality, cover art, etc.

I agree, the horrible downside to pirated music is the innaccurate track listings. Too many a time have I downloaded an album with "track 1, track 2, track 3, etc" as songs.
It annoys me to no end, as is amost enough to make me actually buy the legit CD.
