Sometimes copy protection actually drives me to piracy - eg. "Playing the Angel" by Depeche Mode. I can't play it in my computer, so had to download a pirated copy. Sodding ridiculous.

"Beer is the mind killer. Beer is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my beer. I will permit it to pass over me and through me, and when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. When the beer has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
Make beer, not war.

Very little is left. yeah~
For me I will buy only if the album design is nicer (Yeah~ I'm a sucker for design...) And sometimes this song i really really wants.
The downloads ones i uses programmes to enhance the quality...
yeah, same here, fairly evenly split amongst the 2.
depends, if the artist is the one i really like, or the album got a lot of nice songs and special features i would buy the album
so, most of the time i burn CDs..
i used to buy a lot of CDs (well it was a lot for a broke little girl like me, but i never had more than 80). but that was when my tastes were pretty bad and my range was limited. and for some odd reason unbeknownst to me, my mom wouldn't let me buy CDs that carried the PA rating. once i started getting into better music and expanding my musical horizons, i had an INCREDIBLY hard time finding anything, and most often left the stores empty-handed. there is only one indie record store that i know of, so i would go there and find a good percentage (but not all and not even half) of the things i was looking for, but for prices that would have been worth my left leg and right arm. so eventually i started downloading, and have been happy ever after. lol
but really, i listen to a lot of independent, underground music. these aren't the guys putting up a stink about downloaded music--they even push for it! i always believed that downloading expands fanbases. you listen to the music (now available to a wider range of people on a network based on e-word of mouth), you like it, you buy the merch and go to their shows.
and downloading hasn't turned me into some kind of greedy pirate. o_O i always go into best buy (where i went to buy the majority of my music) with an urge to buy an album or six. just recently i went to that indie records store and bought an ultra-rare imported EP from a band whose stuff i'd been looking for for ages, for only 6 USD!
and one last note: i have a bit over 50 gigs of music, 30 of which (40GB ipod - 3GB for formatting - 7GB for bands i have yet to listen to) i listen to on a daily basis. it would have been IMPOSSIBLE for me to have been exposed to about 70%+ of those bands if not for downloading. and where else is one supposed to find unreleased, out-of-print (i.e. underoath's 'cries of the past' or 'act of depression'), or otherwise uber-rare music?
(((you know what's uncanny, though? when i went to that indie records store recently, after months of having my ipod and downloading/using it religiously, i found stuff [but still about 10%] that i had been scouring half the earth for, that hadn't been there before. irony, incarnate, isn't it?)))

I hate to admit it but I've never, ever once in my life, bought a licensed album..............ever.
I just cant do it. it's too tempting to just download the damn song. I know it's wrong. It's a bad feeling when you know your riping people off for doing something you enjoy so much but I just cant help it when I know it's also available FREE.
I'm an ass.

Depends. I usually download a couple of songs off the album I'm planning to buy off LimeWire. If I like it, I'll buy it. If I don't, or if I only like maybe 1/3 of the songs, I'll just BT it.

Most of the time I get to love one or two songs from one artist. And having to buy a complete 18 track cd to only listen to 2 piss me off. So I find it better to download those two than spend lost of money. On the other hand there are atrists whom I'm fan and I do buy the cd. Then burn them to my ipod...
