the only song i have from them is the cover they did of Final Countdown by Europe. i haven't really gotten into them but i think they did a pretty decent job of the cover. i'll give them a try soon enough.

the children of bodom cover of final countdown is actually by norther, for some reason someone renamed the file to make it seem like it's done by bodom. although the true cover is done by norther, meaning both covers are one and the same. it's just like the song hunger, which was apparently done by metallica and megadeath. it's the song that apparently metallica didn't have room to put on the album load and it didn't fit with the theme of the album. but really that song is done by some unknown band (atleast unknown to me). so technically ashxcore, you've already heard norther

i guess it's because i've only listened to it a few times. usually i have to listen to something quite a few times before it really grows on me. there are some bands that i listen to now and consider to be at the top of my list but when i first heard them they didn't appeal to me all that much.

well, first i'll say that my taste in metal was very narrow. i say metal because this is the only genre of music that has taken me a while to get used to and here's why. all i used to listen to were well known bands like slayer, metallica and iron maiden. the main reason behind this was because i never liked hearing vocals where there was screaming and growling involved. that was the biggest thing for me to get into. after a few months of listening to bands such as Death, Carcass, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Edguy, Kamelot, Blind Gaurdian, and Iced Earth just to name a few (which i all got from a friend of mine who's a huge metal head) i got hooked. and i also began to understand the lyrics as well. i also realized that without the vocals being the way they are, the music wouldn't sound as good. i mean, Dimmu Borgir just wouldn't sound right if they had the same vocals as say Dream Theatre. But currently, to finally answer your question, some of my favourites out there right now are Death, In Flames, Carcass, Morbid Angel, Arch Enemy, Opeth and maybe a few more that i can't really choose from.

hah, i'm the complete opposite. i wouldn't say metal is my favorite genre at all, but i'm a fan of it (i listen to most subgenres of rock, aside from metal i mostly listen to indie, nu-emo, and pop-punk). i normally hate clean vocals in my metal, (i loooove death growls and grunts and screams are great too) and i don't really like anything progressive. that said, despite countless recommendations, i've never really heard dream theater (i'll make my way to checking them out one day). oh yes, and i don't care at all for superfluous solo-ing.

this was quoted from a post not too long ago in the dead metal thread

if i'm listening to death and black metal, i normally end up listening to christian bands because i don't want to listen to any blasphemous bands like deicide and others of its ilk (i often miss out on good bands because of this, but i reckon there are plenty in the genre that don't have lyrics such as these).
and i like a bit of grindcore too, but mostly not in pure form, but mixed with other genres.

i like the number twelve looks like you, the berzerker, the sawtooth grin, daughters, HORSE the band, paria, arsis, candiria, all shall perish, meshuggah, a life once lost, (old) underoath, sinai beach, symphony in peril, the end, (old) lamb of god, as i lay dying (before shadows are security), august burns red, bodies in the gears of the apparatus, frost like ashes, caliban, extol, from a second story window, (old) hopesfall, poison the well (before you came before you), mortal treason, nightwish, psyopus, lutikriss, mastodon, the chariot, nodes of ranvier, slechtvalk, the showdown, the black dahlia murder, *system of a down, the tony danza tap dance extravaganza, cave in, darkest hour, converge, becoming the archetype, between the buried and me, into the moat, the acacia strain, zao...
