What is the premise of Modern Families? I heard it was good but have no idea what it is about.

The 3 families are related. The grandpa has a family (Himself, his new curvy hispanic wife, and her hispanic son). The Grandpa's daughter has a family (Her, her childish husband, and her 3 kids). And finally the Grandpa's Son has a family (Himself, his husband and their adopted asian daughter). So 3 families all related.
It's really really really funny. Some people don't like the gay thing. I myself included, but it's usually not done in a disgusting way. IE they don't kiss at all I believe. There are no scenes of them getting out of or into bed together. I think they hug from time to time. So basically the signs of affection are kept to a minimum, making it bearable to watch.
In my opinion Modern Family is the funniest show currently airing on television.
