Thread: The Legend of Korra

So the movie The Last Airbender sucked but the cartoon was brilliant so guess what, the creaters have gotten the greenlight for a new series called "The Legend of Korra".

"This new avatar is not only a girl, but also hot-headed, independent and ready to take on the world."

The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern "Avatar" world, Republic City – a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.

I could have sworn that the next bender in line was supposed to be Earth...

Not only did Aang and Katara get busy, but it also means Aang died in his sixties.

Im really stoked for the new avatar series to come out. Although Im a little disappointed at the whole *this woman is headstrong and ready to take on the world* kind of thing…How come she just cant be a regular woman? Why does she need to be headstrong and whatever. . .hell even Aang wasn’t all like that, he was a bit wimpy for most of the chapter in my opinion, Why is it nowadays that only the women can be strong and tough heroes while the men are forced to be wimpy 12 year olds who trip over themselves because of a girl they have a Crush on?

Why does Headstrong and Independent strong woman seem to equal = bitchy as well? Katara was this during the WHOLE fking season. She annoyed the HELL out of me

MY favorite character was Toph she was strong, independent, but not bitchy, in fact, she was BADASS!

AND blind!

and they did it withOUT making her out to be a Bitch

so basically Toph was a character that could make *Disabled* people AND women feel better or whatever.

Im all for girl power and all that jazz but why does it seem that girl power has to come at the expense of a strong male lead character as well? I just don’t get it.

Now if they Modeled Korra after they did with Toph, That would be awesome!

If Tenzin is anything like his father then they will get on fine even if she is a bitch, but I'm not saying anything until I see clips because she might not be bitchy at all.

The creators did say that they made the female character after so many people loved avatar kiyoshi.

so if they model korra after kyoshi, that would be sweet as hell too.

If its seventy years later, Aang would be around 82(182) if he were alive. So he died around 64 -67.

As long as the writers for the plot and dialogue from the first series are doing it than I'm fairly excited to see how much comedy and action they can put in this one.

I do expect to see some new bending skill though.

^Like what, the avatar only knows 4 we've seen metal which comes from earth, lightning from fire and blood from water, what else is there because blood is a level that cant be passed that was one scary episode lol.

Not new techniques because I doubt there could be any. What I'm talking about is skill like Zuko learning the a new art of firebending that is lighter in color and most likely stronger than the nation's firebending.

Also the way Toph earthbends is like a skill as well.

Things like that. Maybe we can see airbending take away a firebender's power because fire needs air to be combustible. Or something creative like that
