Default Heroes Season 4, Volume 5: Redemption

So, anyone else looking forward to this? I thought the show started picking up towards the end of last season...not quite Season 1 stuff, but I'm hoping this season brings it back to that. Season 1 was awesome.

    Heroes Redemption Promo Clip

The clip looks pretty decent. Robert Knepper from Prison Break's the main villain this time round, it seems, and he's heading this travelling carnival of heroes. The idea's kinda cool.

This show has been nothing but terrible since season 2 and this new season will only worse, it is beyond redemption.

That aside, anyone excited for the next episode of Supernatural?

Hey, it's a Heroes thread and not a Supernatural one.

I agree that it's been bad since Season 2. Season 2, to me, was mainly just too slow and paced badly. Other than that it was normal. Volume 3 was nice at first but the story became way too convoluted. Looking back at it, I don't understand a whole lot of things. Fugitives was a step up, I thought. More streamline plot, moderate pacing. But it just wasn't like Season 1. I'm really, really hoping this brings it back because if not I'm not sure how long I'll stay on board.

Anyone else here still a bit optimistic? I'm going to try to not have very high expectations...they've fixed the pacing, the characters a bit. What they have to do this season is to make us feel the characters more, so we empathise a bit...I remember recoiling a bit when Nathan died last season, but I wasn't really sad at all. But in Season 1 I remember hoping he wasn't dead, and hoping Matt wasn't dead and everything. The show's got to make us care about the characters again. And if they can add that to the sort of interconnected plot that built up so nicely in Season 1, then maybe they can pull this off. Anyone think they can?

There are some promo images there, and a few preview clips...watch the last one, peter's super speed knife fight. It's actually quite a good fight, for Heroes, where they usually cop out the good stuff.

If they killed off Claire, then there is hope for this show. Any other character can replace her role, and her filler arcs are actually slowing the story down. Jumping from the window on campus? Very smart!

Robert Knepper seems like an interesting character.
etufo: HS is most likely going to die sooner or later. Who will kill the cool character killer?

Popo: well, obviously going by that logic, HS will have to kill himself...

^Yeah, I agree. She's more tolerable now but to me she's utterly pointless. When she jumped off I wondered why the hell she did something so utterly stupid...and she's the one whining and whining about wanting a normal life again. And I think it'd give Noah something to chew on, it could open up an entire arc for him if she died. Revenge and all. Robert Knepper's Samuel seems cool, because I can't tell that he's really evil...I think he really considers the carnies family, even if he's willing to get them to kill people.

I think the Hiro 'bucket list' storyline will be good, if they do it right. I have this bad feeling Hiro's going to die by the end of the season. Not a smart guess, I know, but still. The whole 'Dial A Hero' thing is so Hiro...

And yknow, they finally gave us a decent fight! I mean, it's not going to redeem the show but it's nice for once to see a good fight, not the major let-down between Sylar and Peter and Nathan we didn't get to see last episode.

Hey, at least the Carnival makes for a more interesting opposing group than a bunch of government agents we don't know, led by a paranoid guy with height issues. Plus the whole Matt-Sylar-Nathan thing is kinda interesting, even if I thought that turning Sylar into Nathan was a bit of a cop-out last season. This reminds me of the Niki-Jessica saga, and I think that's what they're trying to do here.

    Next week's episode promo:

Was it just me, or did anyone else see a potential Noah-Tracy thing going on this episode? I really really hope nothing happens...

The romance in this story is also bad, so I hope those two don't get together. Maybe if its vengeance for one another then its okay.

I do find Sylar torturing Matt very amusing, however I think it'll get old if they keep doing that every episode. If Sylar somehow controlled Matt completely, then that would be interesting. I thought the writer's explanation of how Sylar managed to stay in Matt's mind is ridiculous btw.

I agree that the explanation for how Sylar got into Matt's mind ridiculous. It would be better if they just said Sylar understood how Matt's power worked and used it back against him as a counter attack.

Yeah. Prior to this I actually thought Nathan would be the one seeing visions of Sylar, not Matt. So I guess that means that Sylar isn't in his body anymore, which means that technically Nathan CAN'T revert back to Sylar unless Matt puts him there again. Or has Sylar split his soul? And if Nathan can't change back then he just replaced Peter as the powerful Petrelli brother, what with his new powers and all. Still, you would think that the mind controller would be strong enough to not let someone get into his mind like that...it's lame.

Anyone got any ideas as to what Samuel and Lydia's powers are, specifically? In the graphic novel they said Lydia's power was to "see the wishes and desires" or people or something. Which somehow doesn't mesh entirely right with how she seems to find people or control ink. I think she has clairvoyance of some sort, expressed through tattoos and ink, or perhaps she can control ink. Or maybe it was Samuel controlling the ink when he had that hand tattoo strangle Edgar (that was cool. Reminded me of Shikamaru's shadow techs). But Samuel also shifted earth earlier, so that would either make his telekinetic or terrakinetic (is that even a word?). Hmm...

Nah, the Sylar-Matt thing will progress. Like the Niki-Jessica thing, he'll probably start controlling Matt's mind sooner or later. Then Sylar would have become Nathan and Matt would have become Sylar and nobody would have become Matt. Aww.

I'm just finding this ridiculous now, Matt hallucinating due to Sylar just shouldn't be possible. It's like saying Xavier would start seeing things the moment Juggernaut's persona enters his mind.

Actually, the rationale is that since Sylar now apparently shares Matt's body (since he's in his mind, which I find a bit iffy anyway) he can therefore also use his powers. Makes sense...Matt is not immune to his own power, as we saw when Maury trapped him in an illusion, only for Matt to later turn it on him, of course. So to me it actually made sense. It's an interesting, logical step cause if Sylar couldn't do anything other than taunt Matt then sooner or later Matt would just learn to ignore him (like Russell Crowe did in A Beautiful Mind).

Thought the new deaf girl who can see sounds was kinda interesting.
