Ep 5x09 just aired yesterday....More than half of the season's been released.

Btw, something creepy to note about last ep:
(look to the right of Sun's head)

Looks like a woman with a green shirt. I'm thinking it's Charlotte because that looks like red hair. Maybe it's Claire?

An episode with no flashbacks/flash-forwards that doesn't suck.
etufo: HS is most likely going to die sooner or later. Who will kill the cool character killer?

Popo: well, obviously going by that logic, HS will have to kill himself...

^I thought it kind of sucked. The woman looked too fat to be either of them. Everyone seems to be banking on Claire, but she's technically not supposed to be working this season.

Would have been interesting if everyone went back in time. Ben and Locke in the past would have been amazing.

I'm glad they split across time (for now at least).

The last ep revealed that clearly a lot more has happened on the island in present time than we initially anticipated. I mean, Christian was staying in a New Otherton that showed signs of an attack separate from Keamy's assault a year earlier. And then there's both the appearance of Smokey as well as creepy unidentified lady nearby.

And the last episode showed the start of Caeser's rabblerousing of the camp at the Hydra. At least that explains who the LeftBehinders were getting shot at by in the water while timeflashing. We also know that the Ajira group moves to the main island and sets up camp using the former 815 camp.

I don't expect Sun, Ben, or Locke to ultimately stay in the same time as the Ajira crew though. Remember, two of the three are aware of both Jacob's cabin as well as the Orchid. If they feel the need to reunite with the 815ers they really shouldn't have too much trouble- and this time they wouldn't have to use the donkey wheel.

One thing I am looking forward to is Richard & John's reunion though. Will be nice to see both of them simultaneously seeming to know what the hell's going on with their island.

So Ben will cease to exist? Sayid should have put a few more shots in to make sure.

^Actually, that's impossible (according to the revealed rules of causality and time that LOST follows). The previews for the next ep hint that young Ben isn't dead yet though, he's just mortally wounded.

There's 2 possibilities remaining for Ben's future at this point.
    1) He gets saved by one of the former 815ers (spoilers for future eps suggest this).
    2) He dies John Locke style and is resurrected as the island's leader (a slew of recent theories mention this).

I'd be really excited if it was #2 but I'm not going to bank on it till it happens, and if it does happen, I'd expect it to happen 2 or 4 eps from now when we get to Daniel's or Widmore's story.

Sayid must have really hated Ben to have decided to give up the safety net Lefleur provided him to murder young Ben Linus and run around on the island in a time when he doesn't know what's going on.

The torture scene was ironic and hilarious though. Probably the best of the entire episode.

Damnit young Ben is still alive. I wish Lost wasn't so predictable about that. Episode kind of sucked until young Ben got shot.

You really shouldn't bring predictable when we know the results were predetermined. Ben ceasing to exist would create a time paradox as Faraday's and Chang's description of time contends that there has and always will be one timeline, meaning that Ben's shooting as a kid doesn't affect his known vital status as an adult.

The irony I like best in this episode is how Ben makes a more accurate judgment of Sayid based on his future shooting while Sayid fought so hard to be otherwise.

Even ignoring that, the show is known more for it's shocking deaths than it's miraculous saves. Speaking of shocking deaths, a number of entertainment sources have released that there will be 2 major deaths this season, with one being a somewhat important character and another being a main character.
My guesses: Penny and LeFleur. I'm basing those off of the descriptions the hints these sources gave.

I wonder if Jin will be blamed for Ben's shooting. If any DHARMA folk walk onto the scene they'll see a bleeding/unconscious Ben Linus and knocked out Jin.

Nah, Jin is well trusted. Besides Sawyer could always back him up.

About the predetermined time line, I guess you're right. Don't you think Desmond might be the only exception to this rule then or has it already been stated by Faraday (don't remember)?
