Thread: Dexter Morgan - Blood-splatter analyst

I can't believe there's no Dexter topic!! (Well aside from the Dexter Season 2 one.. which I'm trying to avoid since I intend to read the books without getting spoiled.) But seriously it's by far the best series this season. Yeah okay House is pretty neat.. and Heroes also started plain awesome.. but had some really stupid twists and... I really really hate Arthur - he's like.. the show's Sasuke. Still Dexter is kinda my favourite this time.^^
After the great first two seasons and especially with where they left off.. I had my doubts about another season. Feared they might get too repetitive or just predictable. But this... especially how they played out his new friendship with Miguel Prado was just beyond my expectations. And with the latest twist.. this season will probably come to a conclusion in the next two weeks.

Prado and the baby have definitely been the main attractions of season 3. Going through S2 shouldn't spoil the books considering the books were already adapted into the story as far as season 1. I'm pretty sure most of the show past the 1st season is non-canon, though you can check wiki to confirm.

I'm a little tired of the whole settling down motif, but I'm sure Prado will make Dexter fux up and put himself into a risky situation he shouldn't have.

Someone started talking about the books and they kept pointing out all differences. I'd rather avoid that one.^^

Another great season of Dexter. It's amazing how well the themes of family and responsibility have been incorporated, I think. You can see the layers of planning and meaning beneath every little thing - Camilla, for instance, or even that kid who got killed - by thinking of the general theme of Dexter's worry over a new family. At first, I was hoping/thinking Miguel was manipulating Dexter to blackmail him somehow, that he was a good guy wanting to get a killer off the streets... but I'm amazed at how he was developed and would never have seen it coming. I mean, not that he's just... what he is, but that he represents the child Dexter was so worried about in earlier episodes (what would he do if the kid was like him, etc.). I was totally blown away by that.

I hear they've renewed the show for fourth and fifth seasons. I'm a bit worried, but season 3 was far better than I expected - they really might be able to pull this one off. And I presume that if they've gone for a fifth, there's a clear direction for the show and content for those seasons, so...
