    Default Wall-E

Why does this thread not exist?!

I've seen this movie twice already. It's adorable. I love that whole section at the beginning, with Wall-E trying to woo Eve. His goofball antics are just so endearing. (Or maybe I'm a sucker for goofs.)

Anyway, there's a lot to discuss in this movie, so here are some jumping off points:

    Wall-E: Wall-E, Right Wing Hero?

Also, apparently some people are up in arms about the portrayal of the humans as overweight. I'm not sure I buy their argument that the movie is "anti-obese people." It really came across to me as being against a do-nothing lifestyle, which obesity is the obvious outcome of. Plus, the captain saves the day, and he wasn't exempt from being overweight. I didn't feel like any fun was poked at people who are overweight, or that they particularly embodied any negative stereotypes. I'm curious to know what other people think though, so please post away. :3

Preview Edit - My all-caps title got eaten! Can someone fix it? I guess it's not a big deal...

Why must conservatives always bring politics into everything?

Great! Someone else to talk with about this movie. I went to watch it on the weekend it premiered.

I agree... to me, the movie was really more about the growing apathy of the human race towards our condition. I loved how the spaceship was named Axiom - to me it was a brilliantly satirical comment about how we label our problems under a simple axiom or platitude that we take to be self-evident and then brush it off without truly thinking about them. I think they could have carried it further by showing more about the helplessness of humanity, but I guess being a Disney movie, it had to have a redemptive ending, so the Captain showed much more fortitude than I would have expected from a 6th-generation spacer who has been overindulged and taken care of by robots his entire life.

(It still puzzles me how they could reproduce, though... considering that they seem to be staring at the screens most of the time) XD

On another note, I was very pleased also to see Pixar return to its roots in turning small inanimate objects into living, feeling characters - they achieved the same magic in WALL.E that they did for their mascot (that little lamp-thing), and that was great to see.

Sorry, I didn't enjoy it too much.

Sure there's lots of illusions and what-nots in the whole movie. Like the 2 humans that Wall-e shut the chair on. And the two humans finally opened their eyes to the stars and the swimming pool. (aka, don't-let-life-pass-you-by-kind-of-moral.) And there's a pretty cute love story that develops.

But I think my biggest beef with the story was the lack of dialogue. I kind of like people talking to each other in movies and didn't like how you have to wait about an hour or so to finally hear dialogue (the humans.) The talk between Wall-e and Eva doesn't count cause all they did was say each other's names. XD

WALL-E rocked. It was the best movie I saw this year.

If you replace the floating hover chairs with SUVs, you have every day in the good US of A.

This movie was amazing. A lot better than Finding Nemo.

    Cpr, whyz.... ;_;

I loved the movie, which had me surprised. It had so many cliche, stereotypical jokes, and I generally don't like most of Pixar movies but I was such a sucker for this one.

It was ronery and the lame/obvious jokes kept me going the whole time. I didn't mind it not having much dialog just like that one movie uh...Stallion. People can get the general point, and she was such an ice queen. >_< I'd watch it again if I didn't have to pay.

I think even with lack of dialog the story progressed nicely, and you were still able to get a feel for all of the characters personalities, even Wall-E's pet cockroach. One of my favorite movies of the summer def.
