I don't know about you guys, but I've always been a big fan of James Bond movies. The action, the music, the Bond Girls, heck Bond himself. It's been a great series. When Casino Royale was announced with Daniel Craig ... I got so pissed. Everything I heard about the movie pissed me off to no end. I refused to go to the theater to see it. The franchise was ruined. But I was talked into going to see it. So I went in ready to just barf ...
Casino Royale was the greatest Bond movie I have ever seen! Daniel Craig was perfection! I was floored and emotional attached to this movie deeply. I was so shocked. When it came out on DVD I bought the deluxe version that came with the playing cards and poker chip. A treasure in my DVD collection. I've viewed the movie several times. So I have been waiting for this direct sequel to get moving along. There is no trailer and details are sketchy right now. But I have viewed behind the scenes and Q&A sessions posted online.
This new movie has a lot of potential. It just might be better than Casino Royale. (Because that movie set him up as Bond. He was only our Bond at the very last minute of the film. So he will be full blown Bond in this one!) So I can't wait to see it. The teaser trailer will be released on July 2, 2008 with the Sony film Hancock. Pssh. I'll see that trailer online. :P
So let's discuss the Bond movies and this new one here.
I hate Judi Dench, somebody find a new M already goddammit.
Really? I think she makes an excellent M. I'll humor it though, who would you suggest in her place? What about Helen Mirren? Or Meryl Streep?
Nah have a man play M again ( not that I'm being a chauvinist, I just think the idea of a female M got burned up and now is a good time to go back to the basics and shit ). I'm thinking maybe Dennis Waterman would go at it pretty good.
They learned a lot from the Bourne movies, I would say... :)
I agree with SD, Judi is perfect for that rule. And in the beginning I wasnt that happy about Daniel Craig as 007, but now I think he's pretty good. (Though Its only been one movie with him^)
The trailer looks hot btw. Revenge seems to a part of the theme for the new movie.
She's perfect how? Back on Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies she was a nice novelty to the franchise but now it's sort of a dead horse and kinda sad to see her become the norm on this. Maybe another female M could also work, maybe Streep would actually work, b/c how can they be expecting people to buy into Bond getting made over again from scratch like Batman if they still got this particular thing that had more downs than ups still lurking?
Well what makes you think she was a novelty. Each new Bond actor takes the series in a different direction, thats the only real point of contrition is that she stayed through Brosnan into Craig.
Uh, I dunno, the fact that she was the first female M maybe??
