I know this is not a very recent movie but I had it saved in my directory for awhile and finally decided to watch it. I must say, did they copy the whole fucking plot from Infernal Affairs or what?

Yes...It is a remake of the Hong Kong movie, Infernal Affairs.
Yeah, I did some research and found out that it was intention. But still, talk about lack of originality. =\
The grudge and Ring. Ringing any bells?
I think you're completely missing the point...
Err, nope I get it. It's a remake from an American culture perspective. There should just be bold letters giving credit to the original. Jajaja.
Yeah, whatever, it was pretty good, one of my favorites.
They copy almost the whole thing, but Infernal Affair is still better than The Departed, I really confused why it can win Oscar, it might be a good film for those who haven't watch infernal affair but still lack what Infernal Affair has, good characterization.
Especially on the climax scene on the rooftop, in Infernal Affair I really don't know which the one that actually should die, I really like Tony Leung Chiu character and Andy Lau character so I fell trilled there, but on The Departed I don't feel anything towards both Matt Damon and Leonardo Di Caprio..
The only part that good from this film is Jack Nicholson, and Leonardo do his job well, the worse part of this film is Matt Damon, having him to fill the role of Andy Lau in this film is just insulting
It's called a homage.
