I...won't watch it. Can't bring myself to. I'd much rather just wait.

Heh...well, if I watch it, then the anticipation of waiting for the premiere is gone...and then I have to wait an extra two weeks.

The new season is not based on the books.

    Good thing, too.

Did you read the second book? In what way did it disappoint? What was the overall plot too?

I did indeed read the second book.

It didn't disappoint. It was much better than the first. It's just that the TV series would be far better served following another plot. The first season was too different from the book for them to continue following the books...it just wouldn't work.

The plot was pretty cool. There was a new "killer" in town, one "Doctor Danco" (if I recall correctly). The thing is, he...doesn't kill people. Instead, he disfigures them horribly. He basically cuts off everything...arms, legs, ears, eyelids, noses, etc. Pretty screwed up stuff.

That sounds pretty bad ass. I should pick up a book... Looking forward to the third instalment?

I was under the impression that the second book was a disappointment. But thank you for the clear up.
Would you be willing to list a few differences between the first book and series?

I'm definitely looking forward to the third. It sounds great!

The second is by no means a disappointment. I prefer the story in the first, but the second is significantly better.

    Certainly.

    a) There is no Rudy. Brian isn't revealed until the climax, and it's kind of a WTF moment.

    b) The Ice Truck Killer (who is never called that, btw) has the same MO as Dexter. In fact, Dexter starts to think that he is the Ice Truck Killer. They find a surveillance camera video of the ITK...because it's blurry, it looks a lot like Dexter. Of course, it turns out not to be him in the end, but for a while we're led to believe that he is the ITK.

    c) Dexter is considerably more "evil". He truly has no emotions, and he doesn't really care what happens to the people around him.

    d) He lets Brian live because "he's family".

    e) Deb wakes up while Dexter is starting to cut her, that's why he stops...at the end of the book, she knows everything about his little "hobby", and comes to accept it.

    f) The police captain lady gets killed by Brian.

I hope he dies in the third season. I hate that bastard.
