It could have been Neville...that was important...but they completely left it out.
Ah well. We can't have everything.

I liked it.
I thought the Dementor attack at the beginning was done perfectly. Can't think of anything they could do to have made it better.
I might be in a minority, but I liked the representation of dueling they did down in the DoM prophecy room and then the arch room. When you think about it, it's not really practical, but it made for a really good action scene.
I also liked how they brought Ginny in. I felt bad when they are all leaving the RoR and Harry stays back with Cho and you see the disappointed Ginny leaving. Which, considering the next movie, is a good thing (giving her more screen time).
Didn't like how they made Cho take the fall for the finding out about the DA. Definately didn't like how they revealed that she did it under veritaserum, because it doesn't really give their relationship a finality.
Overall I'd probably give it a 4/5. It definately is the best out of the movies.

I saw it today; it sucked. They left some things away. Harry wasn't as annoyed with his peers as he was in the book, they never got to meet Neville's grandmother and parents, the OWL's were barely mentioned, heck Harry did not even had the scar during the whole movie, until it was mentioned. The woman that played Umbridge did not look like Umbridge was supposed to look. Luna's father's newspaper (magazine?) was never mentioned (I am not sure about this one), and that newspaper/magazine had some relevance in HBP.
Anyways, Tonks was hot, and Luna was cute. That was good.
^ but most of those are only minor plot elements... you can't expect them to fit a fairly hefty novel into movie-length with everything intact.
i'm actually glad to hear harry doesn't go all PMS-ing on everyone.. that was something i didn't like about the book.
Yeah, Dan did a pretty decent job with those. Especially in Dumbledore's office after Arthur gets attacked.
The three definately have gotten better at acting. Also I loved Evanna Lynch's(?) portrayal of Luna, she did it perfectly.
Since you have a problem with the actress who played Umbridge, who do you think should've done it? She fit the bill pretty good, even though she was probably a little better looking than she was described in the books. But who would be able to fit how she's described? Also her portrayal of the character was pretty good. The woman that played Umbridge did not look like Umbridge was supposed to look.
To the person who was asking about Kreacher, he wasn't even going to be in the movie but *spoilers I guess* Rowling said that if they didn't put him in this movie they'd have trouble with some plot points in the seventh movie. Which is a pretty big hint that someone is the unknown and that he probably brought Kreacher somewhere. I'll let you figure that out.

They were quite important, in my opinion. The 5th year was supposed to be a really difficult year for them (as students), yet, that feeling was not portrayed in the movie, at all. Firenze did not appear in the whole movie. They did not have the scene for the part when they decided the name of their group (Dumbledore's Army), for someone that hadn't read the book, it may have been confusing when Fudge mentioned the DA. Also, the coins they used to communicate were not shown, and some of them use them again in HBP.
The whole prophecy deal, if I remember correctly, was told to Harry by Dumbledore. That should have been kept that way because, at the end of the second (third?) book/movie, Dumbledore told him that there was a secret he had to tell him, but he would tell him that secret when he (Harry) had grown up a bit; the prophecy was that secret.
I do not know much about actors/actresses, but Umbridge was supposed to be an extremely fat ugly woman. Perhaps, the ugly part could have been overlooked. I am not saying that the actress did a bad job, by the way. She played her part really well, in my opinion.
Well she was short, and she definately wasn't skinny.
The whole prophecy explanation was done good for the movie. You just got done with the climax and you need to end the movie as quickly as possible. Having Dumbledore tell him the prophecy and explain it or whatever would've slowed down the end of the movie, which isn't really a good thing.
Firenze definately wasn't needed. I thought they at least showed the name of the group when they signed the paper. The coins maybe, but again it's not vital. They were quite important, in my opinion. As echo said before with a book the size of OOTP, you have to trim a lot of the stuff that doesn't revolve around the central plot. Hell you could always bitch at the fact that they didn't show the first quidditch match, but it's not vital to the plot line as a whole.
Really the only things needed were the things they put in the movie. Rebelling against Umbridge, the dementor attack at the beginning, Occlumency with Snape, Harry being taken over by Voldermort, the fight in the DoM, Sirius dieing, and the prophecy, finally at least a mention of Kreacher. Everything else is superfluous.

They should've hinted at the very possibility of being able to talk with Sirus since HP did claim he heard voices beyond that veil...
that would've been a cooler ending then having that cheezy friendship line they said by the train...
