    Default Veronica Mars

I doubt if many people here watch this show, given its tiny audience, but I feel the need to create a thread for it. It's a real gem (at least, it was in the first two seasons). It aired on UPN for two seasons, and is currently on The CW (which has completely mishandled it). It's a mystery series set in a high school (and later a college), and it's one of the best shows I have ever seen. Picture Buffy the Vampire Slayer without the supernatural elements, with better acting/writing, and superior characters.

The third season is a gigantic disappointment for me, but the first two were so great that I think it merits discussion.

    So, anyone else watch this?

i watched the first season, thought it was really good, but halfway into the second i was feeling a little disappointed with the way the plot was going. is the rest of the second season any good? personal the first season was great, and the second season was really awkward because of the way the first season ended, had me thinking that there was no way the story could go on since the biggest mystery was solved. not sure if you watch prison break, but i think if you like this you'd really like prison break.

The second season isn't as good as the first, I'd say, simply because the Lily Kane storyline cannot be topped. On a technical level, however, I'd say it has the first beat in terms of storytelling. The second half is significantly better than the first, and the finale is the best episode in the series.

    Give it another shot.

is it still ongoin?? i stopped followin it because i thought it was cancelled. when i first saw this series, i thought it was way better than Smallville. As to why smallville is more popular remains a mystery to me.

It's still going. It's believed to have been canceled as of right now, but there's a decent chance of it returning for a fourth season (don't ask, it's weird).

It's much, much better than Smallville.

    It should have.

The third season deals with Veronica in college. There are two mystery arcs instead of one; the second just ended and it's currently on a rather lengthy hiatus. It's coming back for five standalone episodes in about a month.

    The third season is horrible.

Give it a shot. Some people think it's the best season. I'd be interested to see what you think of it.

I have two main problems with season 3:

    a) Losing the single mystery arc was a huge error. Having shorter mystery arcs may have sounded like a good idea, but it's nowhere near as interesting.

    b) I no longer care about any of the characters, with the possible exception of Logan. Wallace is barely there, Veronica is downright annoying, the new characters (the Dean excluded) all need to die, and Mac...well, I've never really cared for Mac. Dick is still awesome, but he doesn't get nearly enough focus.

All of that said, the final episode of the first mystery arc, "Spit and Eggs", is one of the best Veronica Mars episodes ever. I would definitely put it in the top 5.
