There were massive budget cuts, so the only people they could afford to keep for every episode were Veronica, Keith, and Logan.

maybe that's why the plot for the third season didnt go so well, lack of familiar faces? plus the fact that so many characters are missing is really a downer, there was a bunch of characters but they should have at least kept all the main ones...

The plot didn't go well because (a) it was barely developed, and (b) it involved characters we didn't care about.

We cared about the Lily Kane mystery for obvious reasons. We cared about the bush crash because of how well they developed it (or at least I did). The rapist arc was...worthless. I hated all of the victims, and it was a pretty straightforward mystery. It wasn't full of twists and turns like the "big mysteries" of the first two seasons. The conclusion was really good, albeit obvious...that was the only good part.

The second mystery, though, was so much worse than the first. I actually forgot the details of the case multiple times because it was so rarely brought up. No major characters were implicated and the finale was underwhelming. Even with the rapist arc, when it came time for the final episode, I was really excited. Not so for the second mystery. I was just like "eh..." the whole time. I didn't care. The conclusion was uninteresting and obvious.

Now, to make matters worse, the final episodes of this season (probably the final episodes of Veronica Mars ever) are going to be standalone. Ugh. Terrible idea.

well. i finished the second season and was like wow. So technically that new black chick was unecessary and basically another stereotypical character. =/

plus that fact that the biggest mystery was about a pedo was a huge disappointment...some of it was okay, i guess plot wise it wasnt the best but some of it was quite interesting. The fact that Veronica was seeing Lily outta no were was getting me really irritated, making it seem as if she had super natural powers to see the dead. i was actually getting into it before the very end, the ending was just gave me a "what?!" feeling. though i laughed when the main guy jumped off the building cause he couldnt find a reason to continue living. plus i thought it was very anticlimactic when they killed the guy who killed Lily right after he got out of prison.

overall, i'd give this season an 8.3 probably cause compared to the first season, its poop.

Eh, I loved season 2. "Not Pictured" is my favorite Veronica Mars episode ever.
