Thread: Reign Over Me

So i went movie hopping and actually paid to see this (got to also see TMNT and I Think I Love My Wife, both of which were pretty good)... Im usually a cold hearted bastard laughing at murder and scoffing at drama... but this movie was just ... overwhelming. Its really crazy to see how trauma affects some people, how the familiarity of life destroys others, and how just insane shit can bring people back. I'll put this up there with movies like Lost In Translation, Match Point, The New World, Pans Labyrinth, and Babel as like the emotion mover of the fucking decade. Its that fucking good. Not only that its goddamn FUNNY. None of those other dramas have a genuine laugh in them, this movie has dozens and for something so serious as [little spoiler]the post traumatic stress of a man whos wife and three daughters died on 9/11, the divorcee hell bent on performing oral sex on her dentist, to said dentist and his inability to successfully communicate with his wife[/little spoiler] (purposely being vague) ... this movie wins a dozen times over. I want fucking oscar nominations.


note to Jim Carrey. If Adam can do it so can you. Get your ass up and go make Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind x2 and get your ass nominated for something.

I personally thought Lost in Translation was hilarious.

I'm planning on seeing this...eventually. I saw 300 again tonight, though, and holy shit, it's even better the second time around.

Still, at the same time it was hilarious 'til no end.

ahaha...well, my only think about the movie is that at certain parts it seemed to extended, like it wasnt essential to the movie, so it seemed longer than necessary, but otherwise....great movie! Seriously, i dont cry for movies or anything, i've never done so ever, but this one got me eyes teary. Good ass shit!

oh yeah... well that was more serious comedy (like his horrible karaoke voice and the elevator scene) but this was... just go see it asap.

I wanted to see it and I'm not 17 (or however old you're supposed to be to see R rated movies) so did it really deserve the R rating or was it just the MPAA being the MPAA? Please be vague as to why or why not because I really want to see it.

Theres no nudity or sex but theres lots of innuendo and tons of "explicit" conversations. That coupled with its character involvement with Sept 11th, yeah, it kinda earned its R rating.

=\ i dunno. There was a good amount of swearing and stuff....but i dont think it deserved a rating of R. Just the nature of it being related to 9/11, thats y i think it got a rating of R.
