Is it just me, or did the whole "black awareness" thing come off a little too much in the comercials?
I mean, great, whoop-ti-doo, two black coaches "coached(not played)" in the Superbowl. We already have blacks in business, Congress, all major sports, heck, a black man named "Hussein" is going to run for President in a little while. All the sports commentary seemed to harp on that fact too much before the game even began, and now the commercials followed suit.
There was the movie trailer for a black team overcoming racism and adversity and triumphing(how many times have we seen that kind of movie? Remember the Titans? Glory Road? Cool Runnings? ). Then there is the Coke Black history commercial. Then the Frito Lay "pride" commercial. After that, I just quit paying attention.
Look, civil rights is a great thing. Equality was a great thing to push for. 40 years ago. Now, in this day and age when we have pretty much achieved equality, these shameless commercials come off crass, and leave a foul taste in the mouth with their manipulation, in my opinion.
I agree with everything you said, except I don't think we have achieved equality yet. Though we're probably as close as we're gonna get until 100-500 years from now when all americans are just brown (from interracial marriages and what not).
I remember when some kid was staring at me for like 5 minutes straight then asked his mom why i was burnt >_>
Edit: Can't have equality when there's still racism
shit. And i thought dogs were color blind
well they can still see black though.
You missed the joke. Completely.

That one was pretty funny.
Most of the commercials were awful this year though.
The Apes and the Taco Bell commercials were my favorites.
