    Default The Breaker - Seinen martial arts action manhwa

    Is anyone else following this gem? It's definitely one of the better seinen martial arts stories (manga or manhwa) out there. Hmm... if I had one sentence to describe it, it would be: Tenjou Tenge done RIGHT.

    Summary: Essentially, the story is about a young, weak high school kid being bullied, then one day coming across the new transfer teacher, who apparently knows some martial arts. After a copious amount of pleading, and an accident involving swallowing a rather dangerous pill, the teacher reluctantly agrees to teach the kid some martial arts. However, this drags him into the world of the murim, which are the martial arts masters that have been hiding in secret while engaging in covert activities that give them dominance over society. Unfortunately for the kid, his teacher just happens to be the once-in-a-lifetime genius who has mastered 9 schools of martial arts, but has declared war against all of the murim.

    So. Conspiracy theories, powerful rivals, old grudges, hot girls for both master and student, a kid-becomes-a-man story, great artwork, and plenty of riveting action sequences, with injuries and fatalities strewn all around. Plus an actual coherent story with decent plotting and proper foreshadowing. What's not to like?

    Scans are being done by the A-Team, but you can also read it online at OneManga. It's 9 volumes and ongoing, with scans halfway through the 8th volume.

    Unlike Tenjou you don't get to see any breasts.

    Yeah, I also like it a lot. But I wouldn't compare it to Tenjou Tenge since it seems to be based a lot on ecchi and The Breaker almost doesn't have any.

    Ah, well. I guess I could have interpreted Tenjou Tenge wrong. Initially, when I read it, TT seemed to be about martial arts with just an ecchi component to it. (And in that respect, The Breaker is better, since TT's story can be kind of incoherent at times.) But if Tenjou Tenge is devolving into an ecchi-fest with some martial arts thrown in, I'll gladly concede they don't match.

    @Dizzy

    that's my opinion on both of them too, TT is nice 'cause of the art, but i got so sick of the (non)plot and the characters, i dropped it after a few chapters.

    This is one of the few manhwa that I read. Read Veritas too if you're interested in fighting manhwa.
