Thread: Amanchu!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but -- this series is bollocks, isn't it?

I waited for the second chapter, to give it a chance -- it's not like there haven't been great series that get off to rocky starts. And usually I like gentle plotless comedy, when done well -- and with Aria on my (very short) instabuy list, I really wanted to like this. But, um. No. Sorry. It's that "done well" clause that's the problem.

Anyone up to convincing me to give it another chance?

I'm definately giving it a chance, but the author obviously has no REAL diving experience. Just look at the hand signals in the second chapter. The teacher is failing at making the OK signal and the girl seems to be trying to make the "level off at my depth" signal.

That wasn't a very convincing argument to keep with it, you know.

OK, how about:
Amano clearly has very little experience in diving, but I'll stick with this series a little bit longer and give it a chance. I loved Aria and its carefree and easygoing attitude, and although its a bit too early to say, this series seems to have that same touch with a bit more comedy and slapstick in it.

Unfortunately, so far the comedy is more of the President Aria type than Akari/Aika interactions. Right -- I'll give it a go, as much for Aria's sake than anything.

If we can forgive Adachi for actively pimping his own series, I suppose we can let slide Amano's little self-shout-outs like putting Akari on a poster in the club-room, or "Sound effects are prohibited!"

If we have to.

I think it´s to early to decide on that one... so far I think can be both good or bull, but I will have to wait a little.

believe it or not it's stuff like this that makes me stay away from all sport genre manga.... but still i have to agree with nroejb it´s to early to decide on it... and usually at the middle the mistakes are becoming less and less. just wait

She obviously knows plenty about diving from what I've read, and both signals are correct, the first one is asking are you ok (while one arm is occupied) and the other is saying yes I'm ok, not asking if one's ok like your thinking... anyway I like the character design and the color panels are great.

Oops didn't realize the Mangaka was a she...

I didn´t know she was a she either...
But if you think about it, her main characters are pretty girls, presented in a non perverted way...
Chances for her being a she were pretty high.
