    Default Holy Avenger

    Hello people!

For a while now I've been wanting to join the scanlation world, and one of the projects that came to mind was Holy Avenger.

Holy Avenger is not a manga, it's a Brazilian comic book, based on a D&D campaign, but it's heavily influenced by manga and so it might hold interest to some manga reading crew.

The story is set in the world of Arton, which is very similar to Earth, with the exception of being a place for heroes and adventurers. Almost a typical medieval fantasy story, huh? Not quite. Along with a large deal of humorous situations, some inclined to ecchi, there's also an interesting plot, with unusual developments.
Certainly, it might not be an epic like Dai no Daibouken, much less Berserk. Some could say it's a bit similar to Slayers.
In any case, since it's not a Japanese production, it has, of course, a few distinctive elements, that may prove interesting or not. Judge for yourselves.

I'm not really good with describing without spoiling much, so, if you guys want more info:
Holy Avenger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (detailed description, with spoilers, so be warned)
Baka-Updates Manga - Holy Avenger (short description, adapted from the first chapter introduction)

If you'd like to, please have a try! (6 MB)
    zSHARE - holy avenger v01c01enxame-scans.rar
Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!
    RapidShare: Easy Filehosting
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

That has been my first scanlation, so it's a bit flawed. Morten kindly has done some further editing in order to make it look more fitting:

    zSHARE - holy avenger v01c01enxame-scans.rar (8 MB)

I intend to translate the whole first volume (8 chapters), and if it's well received, I'll go all the way, including the extra and special chapters.
Once they're ready I'll post the links here.
Look forward to the next releases, then. ^^

    That's it.

    I'm kinda hoping he won't ^^"
I mean, when I first thought of translating it to English, I even considered sending the producers word of it, because all in all, it's a matter of respect for the work and wanting other people in the world to know it. Also, since it hasn't been licensed in English, it doesn't do no harm... to a degree...
Dragon's Bride, huh? I don't even know that one ^^"

I'll just start cleaning HA chapter 02 now.
Once I'm through with HA (if I ever), I'm thinking of translating the latest set of Gargoyles magazines into Portuguese, since it hasn't been done yet, and it's going pretty good so far (pick it off from the second season, the way the author wanted it to be in the first place).

@ Lala-chan: The scans I have are really low quality; I've polished them up a bit with the scanlation. Well, I got mine from emule (I'd scan the magazines myself if I had spare copies...). Oh! I've actually got a link for it somewhere, I'll PM you about it.

EDIT: Well, for the brazilian folks around, if you'd please try this English version out, I'd appreciate the feedback (=
For instance... even though Niele isn't a "sorceress" in the D&D sense of the word, I personally thought "mage" or "wizard" wouldn't quite fit as her title, specially considering Vectorius and Talude (which will go with the "wizard" thing). "Magician" could fit nicely, but I intended to use a word with gender distinction. "Wizard" and "mage" are pretty much the same, even throughout the history of D&D, one term replaced the other ("magic user" being the oldest). So, yeah, for matters like that, concerning adaptation of some terms or any comment or suggestion, you'd all be very welcome.

EDIT 2 This is it, HA chapter 2, "The World's Greatest Sorceress" (7MB):

    Hey there.

Here's a brazilian Holy Avenger fan, and I never expected to see it scanlated in foreign sites. Seriously.

After reading the 1st ch, I have to say: you did a great work. It's very hard to find the complete series even here in Brazil, so I got just half of it, but I know how it ends, thanks to a RPG book, also written by Cassaro.

However, I'm wating for the next chaps, if everything goes well.

^ I have the complete series (1-42), though I haven't got the specials.
I was looking for the volumes, but they are really hard to find these days.
I intend to finish chapter 6 to 8 till next week.
