Finally, after more than 4 years, the scanlations for Mahoraba's series has finally come to an end, and we can see the brilliant ending. Needless to say, it's really REALLY good. I think the ending absolutely captured the essence of what Mahoraba was, and the whole sequence of pictures in the last chapter reminded me very strongly of both Aria/Aqua as well as Yokohama Kaidaishi Kikou in its sheer emotional power. Plus the children! The children... what a way to make a comeback!
For those who haven't read it yet, Mahoraba is an 11-volume gentle romantic comedy about Shiratori Ryuushi, a young man who moves into an old apartment house while studying at an art college. Here he meets several unique and wacky tenants, and most of all, his second cousin Aoba Kozue, a beautiful high school girl who acts as the landlady and manager of the place. Unfortunately, Shiratori soon finds out that Kozue has Multiple Personality Disorder... and he strives to find a way to heal her as they gradually fall in love. Think Maison Ikkoku or Love Hina told with the same gentle pacing as Aria/Aqua or YKK, and much lesser fanservice, and you'll get an idea of what Mahoraba's like. I highly encourage anyone who enjoys romances to read it. This is A-list material.
Anyone else following this series and wanting to talk about the ending?
