    Default Nodame Cantabile

    Discription:
    From Del Rey:
    The son of a famous pianist, music student Shinichi Chiaki dreams of studying abroad and becoming a conductor like his mentor. Unfortunately, his fear of flying grounds his lofty plans! As he watches other classmates achieve what he has always wanted, Shinichi wonders if he should quit music altogether.

    Then one day he meets fellow student Megumi Noda, also known as Nodame. This oddball girl cannot cook, clean, or even read a music score, but she can play the piano in incomparable Cantabile style. And she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten: to enjoy his music, no matter where he is.

    There hasn't been an official thread in here about this series so here it is. I've watched the anime and only begun to read the manga. I've got to say it's one of my favorites and it has actually gotten me back into classical music. I like the fact that it's not such a typical manga/anime, and it felt quite refreshing after reading/watching the countless seinens, shounen, and all the other stuff. A highly recommended series to all. \o/

    Good job making this thread stubby. It's been long overdue.

    Speaking of which, a chapter just got released that I have yet to read.

    Edit: Nvm on question.

    Yeah, I'm not sure why no one has made a thread about it, so under appreciated. =( Although I guess I should've made weeks ago since I watched the anime some time back in April? So yeah, since I've finished watching it, I've been hoping for another season because the ending was a bit rushed for my taste and they could've gone in to lots more detail about backgrounds. I'll be starting the manga soon, probably once I finally get my lazy bum a job. xD

    I never read Nodame but I heard a lot about it. Guess it's time to look at it - right now.

    Awesome series, the anime is just as good as the manga. I would also like to see a second season, but I have to wonder how they would handle the French, Russian and German languages, don't forget that its also set in Paris.

    Well, yeah I guess that's true, but I really want another season. ;_;

    Although if they do end up making another, I hope they animate characters playing instruments a lot more. I was a tad bit let down to see them just have a picture moving across the screen when they were supposed to be playing. =(

    I highly recommend the live action drama as well. I'm watching it now. The acting is pretty good, and they even retained a lot of the slapstick comedy (with some decent CG).

    And no still pictures moving across the screen while they play music. They actually look like they're playing.

    I like the choice of music (in the original story). I'd call it gateway music because they're excellent examples to introduce people to that type of music. Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue was one of my early favorites since my middle school music teacher brought it in, and I've liked Rachmaninov's Concerto 2 for a long time. Romantic-era (+/- an era if you're picky) music is really easy to get into.

    I sometimes like to listen to classical music, the problem is that I have very few songs on my computer, and I hardly even know what to look for.

    Also, as much as I like this manga, I'm predicting that its going to have a fairly stale end.
