One of the best anime's I've seen
Seldom I post anything on these forums so hopefully this is the right place.
I just recently come across an amazing anime called Heroic Age on Crunchyroll. Besides being beautiful visually, the story itself was well rounded and absolutely enchanting.
Taking the summary off Wikipedia:
After an advanced race, the Golden Tribe, left to explore other reaches of space, the human race became threatened with extinction. Since the Golden Tribe left, the Silver Tribe has long since been the most dominant race, calling themselves the Golden Tribe's successors. The young princess of the Iron Tribe, Dhianeila, searches for the one mentioned in her family's history; the messianic individual that holds the power to save her people. This person she looks for is the only human to have been raised by the Golden Tribe before they departed from the universe. After her ship and crew reaches the ruined planet, Oron, which holds the one she is looking for, they are attacked by the Bronze Tribe. However, right before the attack, they come in contact with a young boy named "Age", who may hold the secrets to their salvation.
It might sound a little clichee, and I guess it might be for hardcore scifi fans, the plot is still done with great elegance, focusing more on purpose, personal struggle, trust and hope. The style resembles the new Battlestar Galactica tv-series with more emphasis on space battles, the super powered "nodos" without having DBZ length battles that never ends.
On the whole, the series could have gone in greater depths about the individual characters, both in terms of personalities and abilities, but this is a action driven plot line with a cadre of interesting characters rather that a long winded soap opera.
All I can say is it is a well worth time to watch all the 26 episodes and a great great change away from all those squeling high school drama romance "omg omg" =P
Two Thumbs UP!
I thought Heroic age was good to a degree, but it is still lacking something I feel. Watched half of the series, and loved the first episode but then it started to disappoint. May have to try again from the start.
Yah gotta agree with yoshi here. The anime really didn't have alot of realtionship development nor did it give us a good feel for the characters. The plot and animation was pretty solid. And the ending was pretty good actually. It's one of those animes that you would like to watch, but will forget about it after a while.
