    Default Akumetsu

    Anyone else following this?

Aside from the violence, I find it amusing because it shows me what a manga made by Ayn Rand would have been like if her philosophy had been "banks robbery is great if it's done through political terrorism" rather than "screw the rules, I have money".

i read like ... one chapter. should i be reading more ? i was a bit confused about how he blew up and then re-appeared the next day, though i had suspected from the very beginning that he had some exit strategy (or else it would've been very, very stupid)

    ^ About that:

*highlight for spoilers* It seems to be clones of some sort (temporal perhaps?), and he flies around in a Jet pack, presumably to some secret base...

I read it as more a comedy than anything else.

no he's like a super hero, he has the ability to create clones of himself.Except he uses them to kill ppl, and then commit suicide. He explains it after awhile. I'm pretty sure their some more to him, but i read that like a yr ago, so my memories to the best.

i think its awesome and amusing . i like the way he treats politicans. (kick the asses of the corrupt!)

yet i dont like that nothing is explained . how could he hack the hole television system. how could he bring the police boss to the street with his desk. and his ability is kinda strange.

but anyways its an awesome and criticism story. one of my favorite mangas for the moment.

i cant wait for the next chapter. sadly there are only 3 volumes translated for the moment and mangaupdates tells that 18 volumes are released.

i dont want to wait years to completely read it. the scanlating group is way to slow. i hope someone else scanlates it.

Ayn Rand philosophy was "bank robbery is great if it's done through political terrorism"? You can't be serious. She believed in individualism, not in terrorism; and it wasn't screw the rules I have money either; something in the lines of every man for him/herself kind of thing.

Wouldn't have known about this manga until Ishman kept squealing about it. xD

From the first few chapters that I've read so far, I like it.

No, I said, instead of, and the "I have money, screw the rules" line was a reference to yu gi oh the abridged series...

I was saying that it was similar in that it presented social commentary in the form of fiction, specifically, fiction that's completely divorced from reality, which is sort of the entire problem with objectivism as a philosophy.

edit: If you want me to justify what I said further...

If you had read Akumetsu, most of the story so far has dealt with Shou killing public figures related to banking, with a couple of chapters where he went after the police department instead, "banks robbery is great if it's done through political terrorism" would be an accurate description of what the story is about, it even happens to be non-hyperbolic.

As for Ayn Rand, I'll use Atlas Shrugged as the example; the protagonists in Atlas Shrugged removed themselves from the rest of society and the commonly accepted laws imposed by society, imposed through the rule of the majority, in this they are essentially all saying "screw the rules", their wealth is of course a unifying factor because wealth is supposed to be signify objective self worth, thus the "I have money" line. Alternatively, these character also went into a secret community hidden in the rocky mountains through the use of holographic projectors, designed by a man who also created a perpetual motion machine, in order to avoid the inevitable implosion of the parasitic human society (consisting of everyone besides themselves), in this the story is clearly divorced from reality, another instance of "screw the rules", in which a fictional world ignores the rules of reality.
