    Default Eat-Man

Now that Eat-Man has finally been completely scanlated, any thoughts on the series as a whole, or how it has ended? I must admit, the ending was kind of surprising, and yet, very fitting at the same time. Couldn't figure out who the girl was that accompanied Bolt at the end, though. Does anyone know? Is it Stella?

For those who've never heard of it, Eat-Man is a 19-volume science-fiction slice-of-life epic, detailing the adventures of Bolt Crank, the World's Greatest Adventurer. Bolt Crank has the unique ability of being able to eat anything and then regenerate it from any part of his body - like eating the parts for a machine gun and then projecting it fully-assembled from his hand, etc. Set on a distant futuristic planet, each chapter is a different story about Bolt or one of his fellow adventurers. There was a long story arc once, in which Bolt faced his strongest nemesis, but other than that most chapters are standalone adventures, with some characters recurring in later chapters.

It's one of my favourite science fiction mangas. Anyone else read it?

I've read only a couple of chapters and I haven't read that long story arc or the ending but I really like it a lot.

my favorite part of Eatman are those sudden twist at the end of every chapters. XD

Yeah, that's another thing I love about Eat-Man... there's almost always some sort of twist at the end which completely changes the story. My favourite is the one where Bolt Crank was hired by the king.

Yes, I've been following Eat-Man for a long time now, and I was really thrilled that the last volume finally got translated. The ending was somewhat surprising indeed, but wiki kind of spoiled it for me already heh. Definitely is one of the best sci-fi I've ever read, truly is epic if one could grasp the understanding behind it all.

That girl who helped Bolt and who gave him those orb to eat...I couldn't figure it out either. I have to rescan everything later to see. She might be that girl (or someone from that place) from the back of vol.6, from that short noise comic story. Then again it might not be...she doesn't exactly have the same attire. ><

Bolt lives sort of a sad and at the same time envious life. To be able to live like that and experience so many things. But at the same time it's fulfilling in a way. So many questions unanswered though...what about Leon and everyone else? Most of them will pass away eventually, as there were only a few who were immortal.

    Long live Bolt Crank indeed....

Oh, great! Another Eat-Man fan. Yeah, I feel kind of sorry for the others. Who's your favourite character from among Bolt's group of allies, aside from Bolt himself? I was pleasantly surprised at the bartender's history... at first he seemed to be just an uninvolved side character there for comic relief, but that one story about him really changed my view of his character. And Shadow's stories was pretty interesting as well... he's such a tragic character.

Actually, now looking back at it, I shouldn't have been too surprised about the ending. I mean, there was more than sufficient foreshadowing...
like the Noise chapters and the one about living dreams later. The dragon-sword girl who we meet all grown-up. The ones about angels, the gargoyle one... so many things point to the unique timelessness of Bolt Crank. And then there's his ability to eat infinite things of any size, shape or composition... from train engines to living things to memories and souls of people. When Eternity and Infinity meet...

Heh sorry, I don't check into StopTazmo as often as I should ><

My favorite character among his well little group...Maxil <3, Warren and Eurydice <3. Lol @ bartender, he's pretty cool >< though I sometimes dislike that costume, even if he is more along the lines of comic relief. ^^

Gah, I loved every chapter, and those silent and textless ones are really special. My most favorite ones would have to be vol. 15 and the mole connect later on in v.17 Very profound and touching. I agree, each chapter has a meaning of some sort and how it presents Bolt's mysterious and timeless meanings. Plus his power is awesome. ><

Finally! I've finished reading the last chapters. now all I have to do is read backwards XD

I didn't expect the ending to be like that. Its probably because the anime has a different story. I can't remember it completely though. it been too long since I've seen it. (in VHS too)
