good CLAMP creation or the best CLAMP creation ever ?

i just caught up with this series in the last two days and found it really good. which really says something because i don't really like the idea of determinism (or hitsuzen in this case), don't really like superstitutions and don't really like the random crossovers that CLAMP seems to do a lot of. oh, and i don't really like the shounen ai undertones either.

what i did like about the series are some of the characters (mostly just yuuko and watanuki) and the underlying theme of addiction/wishes. yuuko is like an anti-hero sort of character, and pulls it off well, and watanuki is amusing to watch because he gets into all these miserable situations, but still manages to keep his head up.

i liked the first volume the most, when they were still mainly dealing with wishes and addictions, and before they started focusing more on the supernatural and crossovers.

yah same =\ it's too bad there doesn't seem to be many people to talk about xxxholic with. after going through all 80+ chapters in two days, the idea of hitsuzen is still stuck in my head

I'll go re-read xxxHOLiC soon - I'm currently going through Tsubasa Chronicle again. Neither of those manga get the love that they should. They're amazing stories in genres that CLAMP isn't generally known for (seinen and shounen), with gorgeous CLAMP art (with men looking like men, too!) and detailed, interesting stories. xxxHOLiC especially has some very interesting themes; even the shounen-ai hints are well-placed to enhance the story, setting, and themes without making it obvious or annoying. The crossovers between the stories work well, I think. ^_^ (It's more prevalent in Tsubasa.) The cast of characters have detailed and interesting personalities, too.

    Love~

i should think it's more prevalent in TSC ! isn't that series just one huge crossover ? at least that's the impression i got from watching the first one or two eps of it. it didn't really hook me in... should i be giving it a second chance ?

after getting hooked into xxxholic, i almost feel like reading TSC is required to understand the former better.

Yeah, Tsubasa is a major crossover... although you actually don't really need to know anything about the other series to enjoy Tsubasa. I've read/watched CCS, but it doesn't really mean that I enjoy Tsubasa all that much more, and I haven't read many of the other CLAMP series where they make appearances. The only one you really do need to read (in part) is xxxHOLiC. It's really not that bad, especially since the characters in Tsubasa usually have nothing whatsoever in common with the ones from their original series.

I love the way both series have to do with each other, and I think the characters are beautifully defined and the art is amazing.
At first I was annoyed by sakura defenselessness but as she grew stronger and gathered her feathers, it became more interesting.
the characters are more complex than in any other CLAMP manga I've read, and thats great.

My favorite above all is Watanuki, I love both series I started to read them together and I want more I hope they won't let this unfinished....

alright, i guess i'll give TSC another shot tonight or something. i've watched CCS (not the goddawful dubbed CC), read Chobits, a bit of TSC and a bit of Angelic Layer.. so far, xxxHolic is by far my favourite.

though, i've heard many good things about X/1999...

I really enjoy this series as well, I enjoy the folktale/superstition aspects of the story. I prefer reading this to tsubasa, which i also enjoy just not to the same extent.

The current chapter deals w/ the crossover, but i'm looking forward to his future encounter with the psychic girl (i dont remember her name) and how that relationship will evolve. Watanuki is a great lead, he is maturing through the story slowly, but he is still acts like an idiot, which is great.

went through ~40 chapters of TSC.. it's fairly enjoyable, but i still think that xxxHolic is better =) it's interesting seeing Yuuko from the TSC view.. from there, she seems like a 2D all-powerful character that can help them out whenever they're stuck

well.. i guess even in xxxHolic, she's still pretty all-powerful, but she has a lot more depth there
