Default Shinigami in Bleach or Death Note?

Don't know if this is ever discussed, but I'm interested about this two versions of shinigami...Even Bleach was nearly rejected by Shounen Jump because there's already a shinigami related manga in it (and most probably Death Note)

Personally, I'm in the Bleach version, reasons:
    1. In Death Note...ugh...they're ugly.....
    2. The concepts about how a mere soul can be a shinigami (if it were like that in the real world....... )

I dunno i kinda like the Death Note shinigami, it shows that they are not perfect like people might assume death gods would be. In fact they and miles away from perfection. On the other had i guess they have the same thing in Kurotsuchi Mayuri showing that even in some where so perfect there are still screw ups
I guess in the end though i would have to go with Bleach, shinigami in Death Note seem a bit boring . . .

I like DNs more. Seems way more surreal when you have them alongside basically normal humans. They're much more enigmatic in DN as well.

If you're really interested, I would suggest a further comparison against the shinigami of Full Moon wo Sagashite.

That was referring to Yu Yu Hakusho actually.

Personally I see them as two different things. Hell, they have two different jobs in either story.

Either one though...I'd pick Bleach. They're just funner to be.

It's true, I prefer the Bleach version much more. since it's quite an imaginative way to portray death gods.

There are lots of different series that have shinigami. And most of them are completely different. Yami no Matsuei has shinigami, too. They're similar to Bleach, I guess, but they don't wear the black robes.

Wait.... Where do they have Shinigami in Yu Yu Hakusho? Or did they think spirit dectives were just similar to shinigami?

In Yu Yu Hakusho, Botan is a shinigami -- you know, the cutie in a kimono on a flying oar who takes spirits into the other world.

The Wikipedia article on shinigami lists a bunch of other series with 'em. I notice it's missing Omukae Desu -- and a shinigami in a bunny suit is surely noteable enough.
Today is always the most enjoyable day. Just ask Yotsuba.

Death Note's shinigami. Bleach's shinigami are too Japanese.
