Boku no Marie? Robot people count, right?

I always thought Chrno Crusade was kinda sci-fi in its own way...

Tet suggested all the best ones already...

Biomega and Abara are both by Nihei, just like Blame! they're both pretty good.

Red Eyes is mechs, though the setting is otherwise pretty normal.

Eden, Akira, Apppleseed, Blame, would be my choices.

Go to Mangaupdates.com and insert the titles there. You will get your summarys.

Technically Boku no Marie is SF, yes -- as is Mahoromatic and Chobits. But they're mostly using robots as another flavor of magic girlfriend. Not really bolts-and-rivets sci fi like Planetes, which was the original request.

(Okay, Basara isn't really bolt-n-rivets either. It's more just post-apocalyptic adventure, like Appleseed.)
