No, but completely stagnant/repetitive storytelling is a perfectly good reason to.
I just finished the anime, only saw a chapter of the manga and figured it wasn't worth it. I was considering continuing with the manga where the anime leaves off, but this topic kinda talked me out of it.
And yeah, relationships like Koyuki and Maho's are pretty frustrating. All this buildup and then suddenly it's like nothing ever happened. But nothing compares to Hajime no Ippo in that regard. 700+ chapters and Ippo hasn't gotten anywhere with Kumi.
New Beck chapter is out (82) get it from the mirrors at the scanlators homepage: http://www.phase3.tk/

I love Beck, I don't care if I can't hear them sing, I mean its not all about them singing, anyway.

If I actually heard the music played, I would be sorely disappointed, the manga makes it out to be great, but a song that's made up for it might not actually be as good as the manga says. The manga is not so much about what the music is, it's more of the struggles that the band has to go through. I think it's perfectly fine without music.
