One that hasn't been mentioned yet, Gungrave.

Dear God... what an complete disgrace. Unbelievable, ridiculous, sickening.
I loved the series so much up until then as well... even the first episode.

To a lesser extent Mai Hime was also... disappointing. I mean, I'm not saying that I would prefer if they all stayed dead/insane like some people do. But it's the way that they conducted the episode after that: with music that sounds like a cross between sailor moon and power rangers they all hop onto their childs which are now able to fly for some reason and have a jolly good laugh about killing each other's beloved before combining their powers and defeating the obsidian lord with absolutely nothing in the way of struggle or resistance. Jesus! what a crock of shit.

the only other one I can think of right now is the FMA movie, but then again I didn't just hate the end of the movie - the whole damn thing was crap. They should have just left it with the series ending, which was actually pretty good. Then there wouldn't be any pissing on Hughes grave by bringing him back as a nazi.

I was a little disappointed with the Ranma manga ending, I would have at least like a kiss out of the main couple instead of just holding hands. But it did seem to suit the never ending story of that pair. Wish the anime had followed the manga more accurately.

Gungrave's ending was completely perfect. It singlehandedly redeemed a series that had almost become a parody of itself due to some of the later episodes. What did you dislike?

Shaman King. Even though I understand Shonen Jump cancelled it the ended left a cliff hanger that led to the ultimate battle? what the hell. and the follow up story didn't even have Yoh or manta in it!

    Biggest letdowns
    1. Fate/Stay Night- wtf? so artura decides to go back to be a servant, but it seems like there's another time warp back to ep 1? Like the whole thing never happened? Blah
    2. Elfen Lied Anime- cliffhangers make bad endings
    3. Whistle- soccer anime is decent, but don't end it like that! ew!
    4. Hikaru No Go- bad timing in getting rid of Sai, should have timed it better and have had sai leave just before teaching Hikaru everything, and then have Hikaru figure out the Divine move for himself
    5. GITS Stand Alone Complex Season 1- wow.. really anticlimatic ending, and ends there as season 2 doesn't really go into detail of what happened after the sniper shot.

I"s just about made me put my hand through something. He gets knocked out and all of a sudden it does that little flashback from the beginning of the manga and makes it seem that that's how it's going to end. Bullshit. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when it went back and showed him knocked out. Turned what could have been a really bad ending, into an acceptable ending.

GTO also was a letdown. It was decent, but everything after the amazing v17 seemed anticlimatic. IMO the mangaka should've ended it with that volume. Moving the crazy teacher arc to a previous volume would've been very easily done. The Miyabi confession could've pushed it to a volume 18 but the whole taking over the school by the headmistress and her "angels" didn't need to be in. End exactly the way they did but with Onizuka recovering from his injuries from saving Miyabi instead of him almost dieing. Just a thought.
Bullet Tooth Tony: You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Reporter on Titan Maximum: Sasha is there any connection between your poor album sales and the fact that it sucked?

I agree that the ending was awsome but i wouldnt go so far as saying it made the series. The whole series was just beautifuly done. Though it might take you watching it a second time to truely understand it and appriciate it. I really didnt see it making it a parody of itself at all.

Sorry for double posting but i just had to agree with this guys Outlaw Star as the Best Ending of All Time. The ending wasnt rushed at all, it all played out smooth as silk and it left that feeling of being completely satisfied yet having the little incling of your life is a little bit darker because this awsome anime is now over. The complicated feeling that only the best of the best anime leave with you.
