there isnt any confirmed date. You do realize that he might have been referring to the anime that animated the parts before chapter 196. For there to be any anime, the current arc would have to be over or be nearing completion, and considering the way the manga left off, neither seem likely. However, what seems most likely is that HxH will never come back, which is sad but probably true.

ugh, another shaman king although shaman king did have a somewhat definitive ending whereas hunter x hunter was left at probably the most climatic part of the whole entire arc.

the huge difference between shaman king and hunter x hunter is that HxH was still REALLY popular when 260 came out. Shaman King was slipping out of Shonen Jump really fast so it got cancelled

if hunter x hunter comes back there will be parades in the streets everywhere i bet.

I found HxH to be a lot more enjoyable than half the stuff playing in Japan right now.

hmmm...i heard a rumor that he stopped because he was running out of ideas or because he got bored with HxH and planning on a new series. i guess those were lies

that sucks he stoped, its one of the best mangas out.
bout a year ago i thought it was coming back wen i found chapter 261 but that was just some parody of (tho pretty entertaining).
well im waiting for it to come back, and he better hurry up

So does anyone have a news article with him saying defininite information about whether or not he will continue HXH? I mean, where are we getting all these rumors from? The truth must be somewhere out there, so if anyone has the latest new, then cough up!

Although this isn't too relavant to the thread, I've been thinking about reading the HxH manga, since I've seen all the anime episodes, but would it be possible for me just to read right around where the manga left off, or should I read all the manga just in case I might miss some small details?

It's not recommended. The arc after Greed Island arc, is terrible in my opinion.
