  1. It has a new url now... They are currently making new subsections there for trade and stuff...

Visit me and post on my own shoutbox when you have time... GWR childboard...
  2. Any update on the status of Jcafe making a comeback yet? =o
  3. *edited due insults*
  4. jCafe’s End - Shocking Truth Revealed!...

and the reality... jcafe24.com Down... Let's hope for the best...

Annoying at the moment. I've donated to them this month... LOL
  5. Hey, do you know if jcafe is down temporarily or forever? Tried going the other day and kept getting an error. =(
  6. Cool, I was actually at Illuminati's chan earlier today, was trying to promote them to come back (GGPX) and some of their staff have visited and even donated before! Plus I told them I'd announce their release while I was leeching off their bot. xD

I don't necessarily think there aren't any members who could, I just don't see the point of needing new ones yet until the community rallies up is all. Though, it's not like I call the shots, ask away if you guys want to.
  7. I totally agree with your whole post. Imo, we should try to advertise ST again more. Maybe i write a Anti-Tazmo page for my next scanlations and name this great place again...

I think there are two members who would make fine mods and are community builders but I won't name them since you think it's useless...

And btw, I think the last post of EndGamer verified my antipathy for mart more than sufficiently... He has a serious personal disorder and needs to get permabanned from this forum with all his accounts...
  8. Ah, maybe I didn't say it right, but I do NOT think you're ignorant, lets just be clear on that matter. ;D

All I'm saying is that things ran deeper, even if you were here there was countless stuff happening during IRC chats that people don't know about since they weren't there. And through many personal chats I was able to get to know a lot of them as well as a lot of secret stuff that the public doesn't know. I'm not really talking about the achievements, just the purpose they had during their times and what was happening at the time. What I was trying to point out is that things weren't so black and white on either sides.

I won't directly talk about Mart, I know how aggravated you get when people bring him up so I'll say this about his list, one of the reasons why I believe it's not successful anymore is exactly as you pointed out, it's outdated now. Who is contributing to it? Bringing it back isn't enough, and then there's the fact that there isn't a "leader" of that thread to turn to so people can ask questions if help needed since lots of people are too shy at times to ask.

About new mods, just WHO would be in consideration enough to even possibly take a place of a mod that was needed? Who would get respect from peers, be dedicated enough to the forum, as well as be trusted enough to take care of section in question? Again I say, post intelligent and helpful post and people always get considered or nominated. It's just harder now after everything that's happened but honestly what commotion has happened that people MUST have new mods? I think the community itself needs to try and bring themselves together, which I again say is what was/is more important.

Even now I am talking about other sections because that is where I generally go to and post and keep up with but look, even then no one wants to keep them alive! =( I can't double or triple post for obvious reasons so what should I do?! I've participated in many discussions outside of CC but it's just the community itself that is reluctant to post unless it's something really big or "drama" happens. What can mods really do about that? If you want to blame mods for not keeping the longevity then I think that may be a wrong way to look at it because overall they're appointed there to moderate first and foremost.

I haven't been really mean to any new members, and majority of the time when people annoy me I pretty much just ignore it unless they are doing something against the rules. The problem I have with new members though is that they can't take any harsh words though, they need to grow a backbone instead of becoming whinny kids who complain the first second they hear someone bust them out for doing something they shouldn't have been doing.

You say that ST needs change, but it HAS changed and look what happened to it. Imo it's the community that needs to change, things need to start from there until we can expect results out of anything. Here's one example that it does work, the Haruhi section, people banned together and asked and once there was enough demand for it look at that. It needs a strong community before anything or else what would be the point? Think of mods actions what you want but again I say that I think the importance here is the community. Build a community, then ask for a leader in my opinion.

Again, I'm not trying to bash or say you're ignorant, it's my opinion. =o
  9. V, we both get along with each other but I certainly have to disagree with some of your statements. This is not personal, it's just my point of view. As I said to Ura, what's now important is the present and future of ST and not it's past...
And I agree with you that mods were more balanced in the past but that was a time when they were all regular posters and contributers on this forum. It is a different situation today...
We both joined this forum barely at the same time and I know the same about it's past like you, V. So, don't think of me as an ignorant who isn't aware of the achievements some people made in the past...
But if you ask me about the good things mart did in the past, then I have to say to you that all the things he did before he got banned outbalance these contributions. Mart has a narcisstic personal disorder and always pointing out his dues for this forum now is part of his fallen personality.
Maybe his list of links were important in the beginning of ST when the whole manga community as it is today was just starting to develop. But take a look at this list now: I could make a list ten times bigger in one week. And mart claimed that he took months to make it (sic!). That is ridiculous...
Btw, after mart got permabanned, his list was put into the archives. I pointed out in a feedback thread that this circumstance resulted that the former very popular download request section became dead as a corpse. The list was returned on my request but that didn't lead to the previous popularity of this section. Why? Because it became outdated and useless. Do we need such a list today? No, everyone can use google to search and people who are too dumb can ask... So what is mart's list worth today? Nothing at all. The only one who still think people have to be thankful to him for this half-assed (sorry) list is narcisstic mart...
Enough with mart, he is dead.
I totally agree with you on the terms with new members. I have to admit that I was kind of intolerant and arrogant to newbs in the past but now I decided that new members need encouragement to stay on this forum and (slowly) develop until they are worthy to contribute...
If we could get someone from 07/08 as a mod it would have a positive effect imo... But as you said, asking for mods won't lead into results. Why? Because the remaining mods want to keep their power and won't share it. How many mods did we lost last year or became mainly inactive and how many mods were added to the list for replacement (not talking about how very successful this new mod became)?
It is futile to ask for new mods because the existing system of modship is corrupted. And most of the people here want to see a change in that system...
At last, I agree with you that lamenting about the decay of ST is wrong when you don't do anything against it. Please don't get me wrong but that is an aspect all of us are currently sharing, not just a small number of inactive members. I simply don't care about CC anymore but I stay update with the rest of the forum, V...
  10. Don't mean to jump in to your guy's 3 way convo, but I'd like to point out a couple of things.

    1. ST politics ran deep, you'd have to ask around, dig, and lurk to understand why Mart WAS needed believe it or not. The mods were actually quite balanced back then believe it or not.

Seeing as most of the older people have left and some of you(not directing this specifically to you mort but as a general) don't want to ask or might not even believe what they say making another hurdle for you guys to really have judged. I was bored back then, and the history of ST interested me so I asked around all the time, got comfortable, and am willing to say that for the most part you guys have no clue what was right and wrong in terms of Mart.

Honestly if you guys want to know and understand it'd be long and complicated, but seeing as Mart is still here put aside whatever differences you guys have and actually ask him about the history as well as about what happened. There was so much to everything but most people jumped the gun. I admit that Mart can be a difficult person to argue with, but he knows and has been here for almost all the history. That's not to say I only learned stuff about ST through him only, I was able to get the chance to talk and get to know almost all the mods except for Maddie-chan, Hellcreater(whom I only spoke to a few times), Kane, Brian, IdiotHunter, Tet, and Shautieh(with the exceptions of the few times on ST), and Cold-Nite. Although that's a lot of mods that I "don't know", I was able to find out a lot about them all through other mods, making it more or less not an issue.

    2. The decline of ST is based on multiple reasons, series ending, people moving on, new series not being as huge as previous other series, the fact that for the most part people who posted here used to come for the community more than the manga, ST used to be more usefull/helpful because of the community such as Mart's help with links and other forms of help, and CC used to actually have good conversations or people who made really good threads, lastly(but not really) there was meaning to Stop Tazmo. It's not just one or two things, it was many things that contributed to it's success.

    3. Even when there has been new and good threads in CC, lots of times it got spamed up by newer members or it simply wasn't enough to keep on going. It's hard, but people used to always come up with great convos and nice debates all the time. Where is that now? I admit I spamed a lot when I started, and still do from time to time, but even when I don't post or I post something I try to get going(mainly manga/anime) no one else participates for different reasons.

    4. Personally, I believe ST was always about the community more than simply the mods since they were all members before they became mods. I think people seem to overlook that fact and how most if not all mods were appointed that way. And on the subject of mods, it's a fact that if you ask for modship you will not get it no matter how hard you beg or how qualified you are.

    5. You guys want better post/better things you've gotta keep on asking and show leadership yourselves. Just standing around and pouting about it like you own the place doesn't do anything. We may be apart of the community, but we don't own and run the place. Ask for something rather than demand it always works better than being an arse about it.

Not only that, you've gotta recruit people yourself from other sites, I know you've done lots of promoting with your own scanslations group which I applaud you for.

    6. A LOT of the new members have been very...lets say...weak hearted. Back them flame wars happened left and right, but things were still alive and traffic was always there. The "nicer" ST got the worse it became for bad spamming. Senior members pointed that out, and rightfully put the newer members in their place. Hell, even I acted like a retard to a more or lesser extent when I start out from those experiences and eventually I became good friends with them. Slapping people on the wrist doesn't always solve the problem, sometimes people just need something more and if they stick around long enough majority of the time they change.

Last note I'd like to say is that take what I said as you want, I won't get mad or angry about whether you guys agree or disagree. I don't think I'll leave this place until it dies or I finally move on due to something with my career or just some other reason that prevents me from doing so. I may or may not post as much but whatever. I'm just giving my quick but long opinion on this matter since you guys seemed to have addressed something that is important and I just happened to be lurking. I just hope you guys do a little be of research before jumping the gun on anything.
