Thread: The quality of the second season?

Uh, I know this was already discussed in S2 thread, but i wish to avoid spoilers hence i did not dare to open that thread.

So. In opinion of you people, who are much more familiar with Haruhi then me - is the second season good or not? Both in comparison with first one and not.

it really depends if you will include the "Endless Eight" (E episodes. I can say that the second season is (marginally) faithful to the novels, thus it can be considered less than or equally good as the novel from where they were adapted. Based on my opinion, I consider the animation a little better than the previous season. Excluding the famous E8 episodes, for a die-hard haruhiist, it is quite good, and maybe pretty above average for an ordinary viewer. But if you include E8, well, I think it will be a huge waste of time (at least half of it).

Except for the 1st & Last Episodes of Endless Eight... I recommend skipping all the Endless Eight Filler Episodes.

Although the real 2nd season of Haurhi is the movie comming out next Spring in my opinion lol.

i haven't read the novel but i really hate those endless eight ep's, they wasted like 5-6 ep's for that
and because of it i won't be shock if they create/release ENDLESS EIGHT THE MOVIE >.<

^ Endless 8 is actually just a single chapter in the novel.

^ yes it is, i've read it in some blogs the fact that it's only a single chapter with only 30 pages or a little more for i remembered, took them to create 8 ep's >.< if u sum it all, it is even longer than a regular movie, so they should create 1 bwahahaha

I agree with this. Basically watch the first (Bamboo Rhapsody) and second ( Endless Eight I) episode. Then skip Endless Eight II to VII. Then you can watch the ending of Endless eight and the whole Sigh arc.

and a big NO to Endless eight movie. It completely ruined the whole Haruhism. They wanted to try something new but they should have pulled out when they could see that it's receiving a negative reaction from everyone (The viewers and the staffs).

i think the E8 episodes are now a common running gag on Haruhiists everywhere. lol
although we recommend skipping E8 episodes, you may watch it, but skip on the scenes that seems redundant. There are some subtle differences on each E8 eps storywise,so to get the whole point of it, watch them. KyoAni could've animated only the important scenes to cut costs, and because of that, they also have a cut on their profits on the DVDs.

But if you really want the whole point of the E8 eps, don't watch it, read it on the novels. XD

Perhaps they should have made a couple of the Endless 8 episodes into DVD extras instead of airing them. Only a really fanatical fan would enjoy that much abuse. I have to say that I did find spotting and thinking about the differences between the iterations to be occasionally interesting, but I would have preferred if they didn't go _that_ long.

The anime producers have been abusive of the fans from the beginning. The strange ordering of the original airing of Season 1 was the first abuse. They thought they were being clever, but it probably cost them some viewers the first time around.

Edit: To address the OP, I would say Season 2 was above average. The production quality was above average. Also, Season 2 was aired along with Season 1 in chronological order, so they made up for their previous abuse!

^well, i don't particularly find the strange ordering of season 1 as an abuse.. it's just that the final episode for the season is too anti-climatic. besides, personally, it gave me a feeling of being a time traveller, switching back and forth in time, some sort of "the time traveller's wife". but i don't say that it's a very good thing, it's just that the original order in the novels is also screwed, so i guess it gave an additional faithfulness to the novel, lol.
