Thread: The Manga of Suzumiya Haruhi

This thread is dedicated for the Haruhi manga.

I just bought a copy of the first volume and my expectations were really low as people did say that the anime and the Novel were a lot better compared to it. Well maybe because I was expecting to be disappointed that I didn't. Rather than that I did enjoy reading it. The story moved on a different flow but it was basically still following it.

[SPOILERS]There are some obvious changes made as Kyon left early and he wasn't able to listen to the whole "alien"-story by Yuki and the battle scene between Asakura and Yuki were also different. I prefer the anime, obviously for the sound and movement, but a fresh look can be good.[/SPOILERS]

At the end of the manga. You'll also find the first chapter of the Novel as a promotion for the upcoming english release on 2009. I haven't read up to that part as my bro here started reading it before I could finish it. >_<

All in all. I'm buying volume 2 if it ever comes out here.

but I do recommend reading it in paper form. I find it more enjoyable to read it in that form.

I've Reed Chapter 14, I was interested how KyoAni might animate Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody.

Too bad the current Fan Translaters have stop translating since the manga got licensed.

As I know raws for volume 4-6 and some chapters of 7 are available somewhere.
Is there really no one willing to scanlate them?
To be licenzed has never stopped scanlating teams in the past.

Any ideas how far they are into the plot in comparison to the novel?

well I'll be damn... its a good thing. I'm collecting it now.

Hopefully its going to show up in the other stores near your area.

I thought about scanning Haruhi but I put that back... I don't have a translator and currently too much work...

I'm waiting for the novels to be released... still waiting... I still wonder if they'll use the word "silders" do they use the word silders in the manga?

^LOL! I knew you'd notice Yuki right away. (thats why I purposely included her in it)

oh yeah now that you've mentioned it. they did use the word SLIDER in it. It looks like its okay to use it. Even in the Novel preview at the back. I went and double checked it just now and there it is. I was awed that they stayed true to it. They did take out the use of honorifics like "San" but they are using each others last name. Well its too short to compare it with the Baka-tsuki release so I'm still hoping for the best.

I haven't been checking what the official MSH translators of the novel are doing... do you have the links for them?
