    Who makes me lol? Nobody, really. It's not that funny a show. I guess that would be Kyon and some of the things he said, but I picked Nagato because, heck, she's Nagato.

    Wow, no one has posted in this thread for ages...

    Suzumiya Haruhi: She IS the driving force of the story. Moreover, her spirit seems endless, her energy overflowing into the world. Her imagination has no singular form, only bound by her latter sense of rationality and Kyon. Other than that, no words can express the awesomeness of her awesomeness.

    Kyon: He IS the voice behind the story. Moreover, being the most conflicted person of the brigade, he is usually led (or jerked/forced/etc) around by Haruhi, leading him to crush those conflicts inside of him. His thoughts make us believe that he is the the opposite of Haruhi, being the Yang of her Yin. His imagination is strictly rooted on his sense of rationality, but is usually broken and freed from it by none other than Haruhi. In the novels, it is, at times, difficult to ascertain if he is sometimes speaking his mind out, or if he has the ability to convey his thoughts without speech, which may be interpreted as him being a telepath.

    <SERIOUS MODE>
    Koizumi Itsuki:

    The most manipulative character (though not at all apparent) of the three external supernatural existences in the SOS Brigade. With Nagato Yuki on the side of a formless alien faction, and Asahina Mikuru being on the faction of the eventual future, only Koizumi Itsuki is bound to the world of "here and now". Confessing that his faction has lost the most in the untold war between the three dominant factions competing for Haruhi, it is easy to deduce that his actions has been, so far, the most aggressive (though, not at all apparent). Neither the future (Asahina) nor the beyond (Nagato) has ever molded the duality that is Haruhi and Kyon like Koizumi, who, though the last in doing so, has been in frequent direct contact with Kyon (the more docile one), while openly supporting Haruhi to the point of senseless praising. He is also the most serious of the group, next only to Kyon. Though he is tense and his true nature is that of an aloof person, he finds solace in the fact that his efforts of molding Kyon's mind set has resulted in the stabilization of Haruhi's level of excitement, and thus has indirectly saved this reality countless times. And whats more, he has shiny white teeth. Whats more annoying than that?

    Koizumi is the most suspicious character in the SOS brigade (People who smiles a lot are always on my suspicious list) but he did mention that he is willing to help anyone in the brigade even if he has to go against the Organization. He might have only said that to gain Kyon's trust but I don't think his manipulating anyone's action except for Haruhi.

    See, Koizumi is actually the most manipulative of all the characters of the cast. Why? Lets put it this way...

    Nagato Yuki infers Haruhi as being a potential for self-evolution. This has left Kyon as somewhat unbelieving, and confused. He could barely relate to Nagato at that time when she explained the situation to him.

    Asahina Mikuru infers Haruhi as being someone capable of inducing massive time-quakes that would alter the future. Sure, she's capable of something like that, but how did Kyon feel about that? Confused, right?

    See, these two characters just presented the notion that Haruhi was a supernatural occurence capable of changing everything at whim. Sure, Kyon was awestruck with such ideas, but he was quite perplexed by it as well. He, in his mind, put Haruhi in a class that would rival beings that he has given up on (aliens, time-travelers, espers, etc). But then what did he think when Koizumi presented him his view?

    This might offend some people, so please brace yourselves.

    Koizumi Itsuki refered to Haruhi as some god-like existence. Downright, and straight. Simple, powerful, moving. I mean, Koizumi Itsuki's view of Haruhi not only changed Kyon's view entirely, but he also changed REAL WORLD views. Am I right? I mean, neither Nagato's nor Asahina's explanations could sway the audience as much as Koizumi's. That's how good this character is. His physical charisma couldn't get past Kyon, but his words seeped into the mind of the viewers themselves. And for the rest of the story, hasn't he been constantly providing input for Kyon, the storyteller, and helping him to advance the situation?
    I'm pointing out that he has been the most manipulative of the bunch, but I'm not saying that this should be put under a negative light. He is, after all, a dear member of SOS Brigade, and he has his own will separate from that of the 'Organization' (or 'Agency'). He has been a positive influence all along, and putting Kyon aside (by the way, I am still fascinated by the Haruhi+Kyon=God theory), he is the most active in seeking and delivering God's satisfaction, right?

    Koizumi Manipulative? Maybe... I quite on the fence on that, if you were to judge Koizumi solely on volume 1 it may seem obvious that he is manipulative but I get the impression that his manipulative influence over Kyon starts fading as Kyon begins to get more skeptical about Koizumi's theories & hypothesis.

    From my POV Haruhi might not be a God because She & Nagato have similar powers, the difference being that Haruhi has no restrictions on using her abilities, she has no control over her abilities and she can create anything out of nothing. while Nagato can only create something out of something else, similar to Equivilent Exchange thoery in FMA. It almost sounds like the Alien are the Alchemist who can only create something out of a finite number of Energy & atoms in the haruhi-verse while Haruhi's the Philosopher's Stone that is not limited to the Haruhi-verse and can do anything.
