User Review: mm...

not much substance in the first chapter. just 2 humans wandering around.. one of them killing aliens... and... scenery getting destroyed :/

i dunno...there were only about... 10 word bubbles in the whole chapter.

art is okay though.

User Review: I like this because it lets the art speak for it self. Didn't catch my eye at first, but when I gave it time I felt that I liked it more and more. Not much text, but instead you don't get bad dialouges and poor comments but a silece that suits this story. I love the art art and especially the background.

User Review: I think that I agree with the second commenter, the silence definitely matches the mood, I mean.... What are they supposed to talk about? Although... It feels strange reading it from left to right, but it still has amazing art, actually, this whole explanation is unneeded, I can sum it up in one word... OVERKILL

User Review: I must admit that my interest in this manga quickly faded out, and in fact I have only read the first 15 chapters or so. It has a great art, I must admit it, but the story is ssoooooo slooooowww and there are no dialogs almost and no... so many things. I must admit it bored me a bit after those 15 chapters, and so went on and read something else.

User Review: sweet! my first contribution to this site.

anyway, this is one cunfusing ass story.

in the beginning, there isnt much dialogue so the reader is confused about what the hell is going on. later on, much more dialogue is used, but the bits of dialogue only lead to more questions. after that, the dialogue starts to dwindle down again, leaving the reader with only the art to rely on. in the beginning, leaning on the art as a crutch isnt a bad idea at all, but the art seems to get darker near the end and you can barely make out whats going on.

all in all, i would definitely recommend reading it. if not for the story, then definitely for the kick ass action sequences.

p.s. theres a reason why the story ends the way it does if you read that far. as one of the reviewers said, theres a sequel to this so they purposely left questions unanswered.

User Review: It is an overcomplicated series without reason. Now really, we see a badass good guy trying to find something. It is never explained why he is trying to find it(the deeper reason, not the kind "grants access" type). We see most of half the manga before it is explained why there are no special humans, and that is because only then someone gets to say it. The charachters know it all along. The worse thing is that it is not ended. I understand that there is another series, that might explain what is going on, but frankly if BLAME! is a standalone, it fails miserably.

The art is really good, Plain and easy to understand, though imho he verboses some times with unnecesary scenes(we get it! That damn gun is allmighty!)

Read only if you are a fun of this kind of stuff.

User Review: This graphic novel is head and shoulders above anything else, including legends like Berserk and Blade of the Immortal. I admire these other two, but compared to Blame! they are children compared to an adult. If I had to choose to have only one graphic novel in existence, it would be Blame!. Truly original, absolutely no nonsense.

User Review: The lack of speech, as some have stated, matches perfectly with the mood of this manga. If there were sounds put to it, I would not include much rock, mostly very mournful classical, played quietly. (check out the Mozarts Requiem) There is no comic relief in the story, so if you are a fan of One Piece or others with a light tone, you might not like it. The artwork makes up for the lack of dialogue as it should, leaving the reader to fend for themselves. Some chapters glorifying the gun were unnecessary, and could have been used to better explain the plot. As with other such stories; such as FLCL-(Hope to God it is eventually posted) and Donnie Darko-(a movie), -Blame- gives you the shell of the story, and the reader is allowed to think for themselves to fill it in. Later in the manga, more and more dialogue is introduced, but still at a minimum. The presence of more dialogue would have gotten in the way, overall-very well done.
