I feel like Ken is throwing bones at us here...
Kotaro's beast form was quite unexpected (granted, I read the spoilers)
Just which exactly is his true form?

and this chapter shows why kotaro is my favorite character. though we still don't know what his power level is but his complete wolf form is awesome especially with the sword.

Now that Natsume has finally discovered that Kotaro's ears and tail aren't just for show, she will discover alternate uses for peanut butter.

Yeah, cool chapter, can't wait for next week's. Fight'll probably last a week or two after that as well.

Slightly disappointed, I wanted to see the 3rd triumph card... but I guess climaxes are left at the end of each chpt for a reason.
Negi is going to use DARK MAGIC, STAGE 2!! I'm sure of it!

By what Negi is about to do, he is going to use a new trick which he had learn from Evangeline. Kotario help by buying Negi enough time to use his new power. Rakan had literally underestimated Negi's determation to win.

I'm sure I could fap to this chapter....

This chapter was great, but it was within my expectations. I knew trump card 3 was coming and I will finally see it next chapter......hopefully.

I'm guessing he doesn't have so much a "true form" than a "usual form" and "alternate forms". If my guess is right, he has his usual near-human form, a beast form and a were-form, a bit like a werewolf would.

His current "shadow wolf" form seems like his adult wolf form + his wolf spirits gathered as one.

If I remember, Negi takes around 20s for a Thousand bolt incantation (I'm only guessing here, since he "emitted" one right after Rakan got back on his feet), so with 43s there's a good chance he's using the Thousand bolts again for speed + a big Darkness spell for strength, for his Duplex Complexio.

It's not much of a stretch that he would have learned the "Ultimate Darkness incantation" from Eva after perfecting the "Ultimate Lightning incantation", although it would feel a bit cheap from the mangaka, pulling a new spell at a time like that.

In any case, the power-up is most likely just part of the plan, not the end by itself.
Negi must have realized trying to outpower Rakan is a waste of time at best, if even possible.

Well, unless the mangaka wants to turn this into another Bleach or something.

Yes, it is quieter these days. And thanks for the greetings, though I've been here for more than a year; my fault for not introducing myself and not posting enough
As for the power ratings I wouldn't take Rakan's word for it anymore, after he lied about Kagetarou.
