so.. Rakan already had experience in battling lightning-speed opponents, but if the explanation for Rakan withstanding those point blank spells turns out to be the old "he's invincible" excuse, I will consider that laziness..

and Tosaka turned out to be a total idiot, getting involved in stuff that's clearly out of his league, I thought he'll keep his discoveries to himself after seeing Negi and Rakan in their meetings, but now since it's come to this.. Negi should've had Asuna break those collars and Haruna take them and run.. (well, he should have planned it at least as he doesn't know that Asuna is fake)..

Well, Negi should've just erased that Tosaka's memories. That way, Tosaka would've been alive (so no sending the evidence) and won't be able to blackmail Negi.
Better yet, just win the tournament, free the girls and go back to human world. Now that i think about it, Negi doesn't need his "Nagi" persona as soon as he gets his prize money, and is free to let Tosaka tell everybody.

Yeah, Ivanov I thought the same thing. What do you think after that? Using lightning magic to create multiple streamers to confuse Rakan, use the lightning speed to keep distance and spam thousand bolts, or just use dual armormentiom.
It was awful nice of Rakan to explain the flaws of the technique.

well, he is negi's teacher... you should've see that coming.. it's like he's trying to make negi understand how to make that technic even better... oh yeah, from that point of view it's look like rakan is not as idiot as i think he is ^_^, he might as well be as smart as negi...

Jack explaining it could also just be him not expecting Negi to be able to overcome that gap. As for the whole "I'm invincible" thing... Negi's magic power is still Negi's magic power. Only his base stats are being boosted by Magia Erebea (Speed, Strength, etc.), not his Special. Jack's obscene Defense is still Jack's obscene Defense.

imo He comes up and does double armationem of Chilipl Astrape and Ourania Phlogosis... epic boost incoming.

so what do we have here?

Negi and Kotaro gets pulverized, Tosaka tries to make Negi his slave but Ako saves him, and Ako gets a Blue Screen of Death scene....

hmmm... so Rakan already has experienced fighting someone who's lightning based.. that's why he was able to fricking predict where Negi was going... so what is Negi gonna do now?

I'd say 2-3 more chapters then the match is over...

Rakan is just returning the favor, the same way Negi explained about his artifact and (to a degree) his raisoku shundou.. explaining about abilities and moves is common practice in shounen..

nah he is an idiot, bus he's naturally talented as a fighter not to mention experienced to death..

it's really sad how Kotarou and Kagetarou are just there to round the numbers in this battle.. before the battle, I expected that the focus will be on Kota vs Kage where Kotarou'll win then it'll be 2 vs 1 on Rakan.. it'll be more convincing than having Negi fight (or win) a 1 on 1 with Rakan..

yeah, me too. i was really hoping for a two on one. i also don't get how it clearly looks like kotaro is winning at the beginning but then begins to lose. rakan i understand but not kage. i also thought of the multiple lightning streams effect and wonder if he's going to do it.
