^ yup me too. it's probably why rakan keep saying that negi's dark magic is still not completed yet.
the way i imagine it: if dark magic is the ability to accept magic (dark matter theory) than it is good for defense only, from that white magic has higher offensive (white matter theory). so if you can combine both type of magic than it would be alot more powerful...
I have no idea what dark/light matter theories are and I don't feel like looking them up, but I'm quite sure Rakan already said that Negi's Magia Erebea is incomplete because his affinity toward darkness is too great. I have no idea what this means truly, but at a glance, I'm guessing he'd get swallowed up by the darkness and... well, not become evil, that'd be totally cliche. Just auto-assuming that some really bad juju if he uses it too long.
In any case, chances are Magia Erebea is an offensive stepping stone. Rakan said Eva used it back when she was still a weakling (wait... an immortal person who hasn't actually lost a fight is a weakling?). And Rakan himself said something along the lines of "I don't have to use this kind of thing because I'm already really strong." So it's a spell to boost yourself in a fight while you're training to not have to use it out of a fight...??

So in short Magia Erebea can be compared to a doping with hazardous after-effects if overused, right?
I think its similar to what Negi was using back then. Casting an upgrade spell to himself but this time. He's using an offensive spell as an upgrade to himself. It's one of those spells that eats up your HP every few seconds but gives you a power boost.Originally Posted by xxxsaznpride
Well Negi needed a quick upgrade atm. His opponents are all at a different level than he is and he doesn't have enough time to catch up to them. This is probably one of those spells that should be left as a trump card. You know. In a Win or Die situation.In any case, chances are Magia Erebea is an offensive stepping stone. As per Eva. She's immortal, true but she wasn't born powerful. She has to start somewhere. She would have gone through some bad times and has needed those extra power ups along the way.
*cough*gear2*cough*
lul Gear 2nd...
If I had to choose between using Gear 3rd or 2nd, omfg I'd pick 2nd without hesitating. Not like Negi becomes a 6-inch doll thing.
@VINCENT:
The thing is, with the way everything is looking, Negi is going to be dependent on Magia Erebea. Rakan doesn't look like he's going to be giving Negi any more training at this point, which would totally destroy the purpose of this being a trump card. I mean, look at his most recent fights. Against the mercenary group (OMFG I FORGOT THE NAME), he had it on first thing he showed up. Against Fate, he couldn't even do ANYTHING until he had it on. And even then, Fate totally raped him anyway.

agrees with gear2 ^^
Mercenary = Practice fight. It's like testing your new toy.
Fight against Fate. I'd have to say that Negi had no choice in the matter. Fate is like level 50+ and Negi here is still around 20. Moments like those. you'd lose from the very start if you don't go all out at the very beginning.
Well this is just wishful thinking. I'm still hoping that Negi won't use the spell in the tournamentexcept on the finals. Shock those audiences! ^^
.... but I expect the finals will never happen. Too many factors that could stop it. Fate interference, Assassins for Nagi, Fake asuna, They're identities being revealed, Yue etc.
I do want to see it though. Negi winning the Nagi tournament![]()
