Fate had the opportunity to catch Asuna in Kyoto. Instead, he only used tickle tentacles on her. He had no idea who she was at that time? And now that I think about it, can somebody remind me what was his reason for helping the glasses-wearing woman (forgot her name) to kidnap Konoka?

Yes, since he only met Asuna as an 'adult' during the Kyoto arc.
Chigusa you mean? Maybe he's on a surveillance mission???

Maybe he was assigned there by the Istanbul magic council. And Chigusa might've just been used to get Konoka's power to awaken Sukuna no Kami. A package deal; you get a Huge super demon and a girl with innate magical power greater than the strongest mage in the world all in one fell swoop.

AQS released their scanlation of chapter 234
They are still planning to do the older chapters.
