Negi is slowly becoming his own man. He still needs to be careful when he uses his dark power.

“Here´s to Boobies” one of the best translations in this manga. It’s really great how this manga has evolved from what it was in the beginning to the greatness that it is now.

That's not quite what happened. They were _already_ in the trapped zone when Setsuna and Nagase arrived, then transported out of range, leaving Setsuna and co. trapped by the lightnings. Asuna was likely following Setsuna and cancelled the spell; Negi spotted the Black Hounds who had 'ported not too far away so that they could witness the damage.

Which also means the Black Hounds didn't know about Asuna being a magic canceller. Or why Nodoka was heading towards the floating islands, or they'd have expected a lot more than just Setsuna and Nagase to drop by.

Someone asked where his staff was; he most likely just dropped it close by since he doesn't need it for ground combat. If he has to take flight, he could always call it back.

I'm betting Negi gets a bit out of control next chapter, and Asuna has to smack him in the head with her harisen or the flat of her blade to calm him down.

dayum... someone make meh a siggy with Dark Negi's look plox...

I know this is Ken's take on shounen, but "dark Negi" just seems really lame to me.

Hey, for all we know,
It's probably different from the others.

We think of the usual "guy turns dark, it destroys him."
Let's just wait and see what Akamatsu has for us.

I doubt it, he probably just got like at most twice as strong. You can't become a high level mage in six months, no matter how much training you undergo.

My thoughts exactly. And then Asuna is going to serve as somekind of restraint for Negi's dark powers, which will make them even closer. That's a wild guess though.

AQS just released their scanlation of chapter 218, available at their website here. What an odd title though, "Boobs, touch-and-go"... but I guess it's no worse than "Boobies on the line".
