What's the point of them? why don't they just make it into an anime series without making it diverge and going into awkward territory? why can't they make it right the first time? i mean negima has got to be the only series where it has an anime and manga spin off that aren't related to the original. plus there's a live action, what's so hard keeping the damn thing canon?
Welcome to the world of capitalism!! Find something extremely popular, make a 'spin-off' from the original (or a 'retelling') and rake in the dough as rabid fans dump money to see different tweaked versions (but not necessary better.....or entertaining) of the original concept. The original simply outshines the pathetic spin-offs.
One thing and one thing only, the money.
I was wondering,
What would happen if they DID make an anime series that goes hand in hand with the manga?
It probably can score big
But then, I would imagine that a majority would be repulsed by the echi content
There are a fair share of Hentai that are OVAs from normal sources. I have to agree with money being the main reason for OVAs, you can make your own genres, have the same attractive characters, and stop anytime you wish- (when you've made enough)...
you can tone down the ecchiness since they do it all the time for certain scenes that aren't appropriate for tv. it can score big, negima is pretty popular. so if their aim is to make money and it has a pretty strong fan base why not do it right the first time to make even more money?

It's true, there are very few examples where the anime is better than the manga.
The manga for Negima is in quite good quality, and it's quite hard to make a good adaptation.
But people tend to watch anime even though the manga is better, since they don't like reading...
I can't really see fans getting bored though.
Let's just keep it as a manga. I don't like when they make a movie or TV series and tone it down to the ground because "You can't do that on TV or in live action." If a comic is violent and has a half naked girl ... that is why people were drawn to it. You make a live action PG movie and cover her up and it sucks. Why? Because they took away what people liked about it in the first place and treat them like five year old's censoring what they can and can't watch.
A real Negima anime should have everything in the manga plus more. They can use music and the animation to really bring us into the Negima world. It would rock. But spin-offs and censored/toned down crap just won't cut it.
