Nekane is Negi's cousin as stated in volume 8. Or maybe his dad slept around with alot of women and one of them got pregnant and she left the child with him, you know like real life problems, like what chamo said he was the thousand master cuz he had a thousand pactios, though i think he made that up...

it kinda makes you wonder why negi doesnt ask himself how did i get here in the 1st place... XD well another reason could be negi's mom died when he was born but was not told what happend to her anyway there probably will be something about his mom as he try to look for his dad... well hopefully...
You know what? I heard that if two people go to toudai together... Then they can...

maybe they don't talk about her mother much. negi probably is obessessed with finding his father because he is a lot more famous. i mean he was a hero and all. it could be like hunter x hunter where he was no interest in his mother because his nekane is like a mother like figure to him. and i'm still saying sister and i follow the aquastar translation when nagi saved negi and asked him you will protect your sister and negi calls her oneechan.

I find the theory that Negi may be Nagi's bastard son (in the sense that Nagi never formally married Negi's mother) quite fitting within Nagi's roguish nature. It could explain why the 'birth' mother remains inconsequential to Negi's parental crusade as she left him in Nagi's relative's care after Nagi disapeared and her identity could have being lost amongst the many lovers Nagi have had. Nagi's fairly distant treatment of Negi the day Demons attacked the town (i.e. he seemed pretty cool when he could have been more worried about his own son) would be a result of him knowing little of his illiegitamiate son beforehand other than from rumors.

If this were true then Negi's going to have a wow of a time meeting new friends/enemies of the female magical outer-worldy sort, formerly belonging to Nagi's harem.

1001 refer to the amount of mages partnered to Al that died, keep in mind Als pretty old, to have that much.
