Well as RPG player I often play mages character and it stroke me that incatnations in latin are somewhat cool. So I'm wondering if someone have them listed (maybe with translations) as it's not so cool to look again through all chapters to find them and rewrite. And also waht do you think about idea of setting roots of magic in latin. In my opinion it's more climatic than chracters who shout something like "Mega ownzor ultimate fireball attack"*. Moreover latin as langueage not used anymore is much more mysterious that chanting in Japnease or English. So all in all I think it's good idea and quite original.
*That's obviously irony.
I think the appeal of the "latin and Japanese" chants stems to the fact that:
1. It's a language that majority of the people don't understand
2. It's an ancient language
3. It contains many nuances that the english language lack
4. Negi is portrayed as a western Magician, so magic being an ancient art must naturally be chant in an ancient language.
I like when when Negi chant his spells in Latin, but I also like it when Japanese characters chant their spells in "japanese," like Latin, japanese is also a language of rich history which added its appeal.
there are almost all of MSN's spells as well as translation of other latin terms.
Judging from the fact translations there are way longer than words themselves, they must be quite accurate.
Woot so it is good that i'm studying Latin
