Thread: sad past....

i believe we all know wat happened in negi's past by now, but i really didn't think it was tat sad. i mean everyone was crying and i was going 'wats the big deal?'

i thought evangeline's, setsuna's and asuna's past was alot sadder, even if we haven't seen enough of asuna's.

and nobody cried for eva or set cos they're not the main character.

does anyone else find this stupid?

Negi is the main character. He's a child prodigy who 'works hard' as a teacher. His students felt 'sympathy' for him.

Eva doesn't give a s*** if anyone cries for her or not, she's lived for too long. Everyone who learned of her past (Asuna and Setsuna) can relate, so what's the point of crying?

Setsuna's past was revealed in a situation where everyone was in danger. How can you cry if doing so will take your mind out of the battle, and cause your death/s?

And before you can say it, Kotarou's past was revealed to people who could relate. Same here, no point in crying.

Still think it's stupid?

i think it's also suppose to correlate between how he felt responsible for the demon attack on the village. plus it's a manga if the mangaka wishes for everyone to cry they will cry regardless of what the individual readers are thinking.

i actually still think its stupid. i find it very annoying when manga's and anime's over dramatise just cos the character is the main lead.

just cos u can relate it doesn't make it any less traumatic then anyone else. and i would have thought being able to relate whould have made it alot easier to feel sympathy.

although i do agree on setsuna's situation. not much of her past was revealed anyway. and the only person who seemed to really understand was Eva.

They want us readers/viewers to relate/sympathize with the main character for the sole reason that he/she is the main character. It can't get simpler than that.

i think itz a sad past. asuna's past haven't been revealed enough to be sad. Setsuna's past isn't that sad. i think the fact that she developed wings to protect someone is cool..

as for eva, i agree with jeomaxxters. she doesn't really give a shit.

plus, if the past wasn't dramatized, then the readers wouldn't have been convinced with negi's motivation to find his father...

I agree. I wasn't very convinced until I read those chapters. I didn't cry though. XP

Setsuna didn't developed wings, she have those cuz she's like koutarou which means she's not human. And being an outcast from your clan means you're on your own with no one to help you. I didn't cry when i read those chapters since the only thing that could make me cry are onions.

Kotarou and Setsuna are both hanyou, or half demons. They are outcasts from both demons and humans, which means they lived a harsh childhood. Asuna's past hasn't been revealed, and I'm going to say the first Anime never happened just in case someone acts dumb and brings that up.

i actually didn't find them sad enough to make me cry, so meh.
