Well, I didn't mean only Negi wins with luck. Though it is true that luck isn't everything... It should just be taken into consideration.

Negi has shown us that he is quite capable to face people that are stronger that him at the time by a mixture of strategy and luck (Vs Kotarou, Fate even Takamichi) he is not a weakling by any means not physically not mentally so as you can see I do not consider him one of the weakest although he is not yet as experienced as the other.
In fact I agree with Talamare going by exp/age he is pretty much the strongest, remember what Takamichi said after his fight Negi that with a complete year of training he might even surpass him.

still all in all, hes not as great as his father ;D. Didnt they say that Nagi was the winner of the tournament when he was the same age/younger than Negi? His father also had a more thorough grasp on magic.

Nagi does not have a more thorough grasp on magic; He only knows a few spells. He is a good magic swordsman, as he improvises very well using the few spells he knows.

One may still be considered weak even if he's more experience than his opponent, it all comes down to tactics/strategies. If a tactic works or doesn't works, it all depend on how cunning the person is and being able to make split-second decisions. The element of surprise, deception or originality is a powerful ally during the midst of battle, keeping your opponent guessing what to expect next. Like they say, expect the unexpected. I also agree that Negi has showed us many times that he is able to use great tactics against unsuspected opponents in the midst of combat. The battle with Takamichi and the white haired boy are great examples, and there are many others too. But I don't think luck has anything to do with combats, saying that luck plays a part in combat is admitting that randomness plays a factor in battle.

But luck does play a part! Not such a big one, but it does, nonetheless.

True. So Negi can be considered "strong" or "weak" as long as people think him so.

I agree with most of what has been mentioned lately, one of Negi's strongest points is his ability to plan and strategize his attacks.

@ Talamare... If we're really going to get technical, we can't even say for sure Fate is human. Evangeline said he moved as though he were a construct, like the puppets she controls so it is possible he is the product of another stronger mage. There is also the whole thing about the young but who looks much like Fate in the picture (With young Takamichi, Nagi, Eishun, Alberio, er the one guy who died and the other two) in Nagi's former home. So I don't know how well Fate works into that equation but I would agree on the rest.
